Without a doubt, Schnellenberger earned his accolades, but at Oklahoma, he was a complete bust.

He got off to a horrible start. On his statewide tour he introduced himself as "The coach that will make Oklahoman's forget Bud Wilkerson and Barry Switzer"

Not smart!

When he came to Oklahoma , in 1995, OU had won 7 National Championships and had three Heisman winners.

His record , in his one year at OU , was 5-5-1, with three losing blowouts.

He resigned after one year. Local rumor was that disgruntled wealthy alumni, bought out his contract.
