Be careful what you wish for comes to mind as I read all these posts about the malicious statements by this doctor who wants to resurrect the mineral oil controversy that was firmly rejected by the FDA, the AdCom docs and everybody else of unbiased background who has reviewed the issue.

Don't give this doctor's erroneous statements any more oxygen. Don't encourage the media to write about him. In doing so, you'll only amplify his views and make it seem that his lies spring from facts and stem from a true controversy because journalists will try to air "both sides," which as we know can sometimes be disastrous when there really aren't two accurate sides. And you'll damage Amarin and Vascepa.

Also, don't overestimate the effect this sad, pathetic doctor unhappy that his own trials have failed can have on Amarin's quests. Notice that he was careful not to say "Vascepa," aware that he could trigger a lawsuit if he defamed its good name.

As much as I hate Amarin's refusal to acknowledge publicly anymore its dependency on fish oil, this is one instance where it leaves this doctor spitting in the wind, likely doing more damage to fish oil supplements and Lovaza than he could ever do to Vascepa. And that, in the end, only helps our cause.
