Now why would they take so long from “diagnosis” to randomization. And what exactly do they mean by “diagnosis” in the Weller study?

I note that the DCVax study says

“Recruitment, inclusion, and randomization of patients in the study. (1) Patients are screened prior to surgery, so glioblastoma (GBM) determination is made from pathological diagnosis after surgery.” https://translational-medicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12967-018-1507-6

It is hard to believe patients entered the trial before diagnosis. I did not see immediately a similar table suggesting when patients started taking DCVax.
