Montana ...I think this is simply a case of hindsight bias , as Singer argues ...nothing more

Hindsight bias is a term used in psychology to explain the tendency of people to overestimate their ability to have predicted an outcome that could not possibly have been predicted.

In 2010 I had TG's over 200 mg/dl and LDL over 180mg/dl .......DESPITE max dose Lipitor .
My MD warned me repeatedly that this combination was an especially high risk for some one with my family history of early heart attacks.
So what to do ...other than a strict vegetarian diet .

One consideration that we discussed was adding Lovaza to at least lower my TG's . That was ruled out due to risk of elevating my LDL cholesterol .

The point here ....Here was an unmet medical need ...but there was NO awareness in the medical community of any drug that could lower TG's without raising LDL cholesterol that was considered safe to take.

If it was obvious to POSA / medical community that EPA alone could lower TG's without raising LDL back in 2010 before Amarin's MARINE trial ....it would have been developed, as there was obviously a market ...an unmet medical need .
