I may be wrong, but something fundamental seems to be lacking in your analysis. Let’s say you want to borrow my shares to short sell, and I say f___ off. Then you say, well I’ll pay you interest, and I say go f___ yourself. Then you sell my shares short anyway without my knowledge with a broker’s assistance, but my account still says they are there, when in fact they are not. Seems to me the books would be f__ up. Not balanced. LP said many major shareholders had their shares missing when they did a self audit.
