Outstanding message! In my opinion, I believe Amarin came out slow.
I agree with you on most of your points.
I’ll add a few:
- 800 reps aren’t enough. Honestly? It should be twice that amount
- there needs to be accountability in the field, so the aggressive sales goal point is spot on
- there should be an aggressive DTC and social media campaign right now.
When the recently launched migraine headache drugs launched (CGRP’s) they first started with balanced or vanilla type of advertising. This was done prior to launch. Oddly enough it’s similar to what Amarin has on TV now. Once they were approved, they filled the airwaves with very clear DTC ads that drove thousands of patients into physician offices.
- peer to peer dinner programs are going to start soon, they are 2-3 months behind
- Amarin could be using a vendor to conduct a pharmacy education program. This could help with clarity at the pharmacy level
- “Cover My Meds” to help with prior authorizations
- Managed care? I don’t want to speculate, rumor has it they are working very hard on that. More to come?
Unfortunately all of this costs a whole lot of money.

I respect JT a great deal. His leadership has brought this company and product quite far. I have faith in him and suspect that we will be pleasantly surprised within the next 20-45 days.
