Yup. But, for me as a serious semi-=pro photag, I need firepwer for editing, including vid's in 4k...
You'll find this interesting. My 2nd build, a 1st gen Intel i7 based PC, has worked relatively flawlessly for almost 10 years. I upgraded the CPU to a 6 core-12 thread ZEON, which cost me ~$30, cost $1450 when it was released. (and I sold the i7 920 for $18!!) I changed out the slow old GPU for a Nvidia GTX 1070....
I built a 2nd socket 1366 ist gen i7 PC with used parts. Prolly only have $250 in it. I got a faster Xeon chip for $40 on its way from China, via ebay.
All that stuff was in my house fire and mostly survived. My 6th gen i7 skylake build did not---but some parts did!Ven though a laptop in thatroom kinda umm melted..my 32" 4K monitor fell apart..and more!!
while I was "homeless" (385 days) I built a 8 core-16 thread Ryzen 2700x based PC. It rocks!!! 2nd box to sport 32 gb ram. Both my laptops have 16 gb. All 3 of these have the O/S on PCI-E NVMe drives, which are the size of a stick of gum, but operate at 3500/3000 read/write..the fastest SATA based SSD hit ABt 550! My puters boot up in under 10 seconds...
Someday, I'll try my hand at some gaming. If I got the latest bestest GPU (~$1200) I could game in 4K on my new 65" LG OLED TV, which is amazing for what I've used it for...It works with those vid cards' G-Sync capability. Of course my 1080 and 1070's can game in 4K, just with a slower frame rate...
