i doubt that many were short at suspension.
but MIKP had run from 000x to 002x in the weeks before the suspension
and was, theoretically, poised to release content news to ramp higher.

that said, while the suspension was a surprise to us retail folks,
MMs prolly knew in advance via grapevine.

so maybe they sold a ton short
anticipating never needing to rebuy them,
thus, never needing to close the trade out,
thus, never needing to pay taxes on the trade.

anything's possible.

fwiw, my occam guess is simply that MMs got wind of things brewing,
possible from mark cold calling them directly,
seeking sponsorship for new pink filing?

and the MMs decided to load up amid gray status
by snarfing all lingering GTC sell orders last week.
and buying up all the panic dumping today.

no way to know, and other scenarios are possible.
that just seems most likely to me
given the trading volume and rapid rally we saw last week
when it was literally impossible for retail folks to "hit the ask."

meaning, only MMs could raise the strike price last week.
