junnygi2....

Not exactly.

..On Monday Aug 19th..I went to a golf practice facility and practiced golf swing for a couple of hours...The temperature in Fl. has been brutal the last few months...I returned home and as the day went on I noticed that I was developing what felt like musculo-skeletal pains in my left back and in the left sub sternal area...The pain became very extreme and I was having a great deal of pain when I lay down on my back and when I tried to take a breath...I had had a similar episode about a month earlier..I am normally very stoic, but the pain kept increasing and I decided I better go to the hospital..I was concerned about the possibility of lung cancer among other thing...I went to the Hospital at 11 PM..

I was worked up and the shocker and the one thing I did not consider was a Pulmonary Embolus.. Turns out I had two of them and had a medical emergency condition called a saddle back Embolus...With both the right and the left domes of the lungs filled with thrombus...This is usually not survivable..because of what is called the thrombus load...The thrombus sits on both sides of the Left ventricle and prevent the ventricle to move in and out and pump blood...The ammount of clot also lowers the ability of the lungs to move in and out...This was why it hurt so much when I attempted to breath in... I had other worries..someone I ran into (there were a lot of people who got involved in this situation.).Told me the origion of the emboli was not in the lower extremities because I had no swelling in my legs...This was was very depressing information because if the source was not deep vein thrombosis the the chance was good I had a nasty malignancy..the candidates were prostates, pancreatic, melanoma or multiple myeloma...So I had to hold my breast as they ran Xrays, and scans on my pelvis and lower abdomen..Any one of those things and even if I survived the PEs I was probably not going to be around in three or four months...

Lucky for me the lower deep leg veins were confirmed as the origin..

Pulmonary embolism is so dangerous because it gives no warnings..Your legs don't swell and tip you off there is trouble brewing. PE is a silent killer..and by rights I should not be typing this right now..,
Sorry for my critics that this is not the case...Whether or not being on Vascepa made the difference ...Who can say? I like to think it was..

I have been hanging out in the intensive care unit of the Debary Branch called "Fish" of Florida Hospitals..A great crew of guys and gals who really know their stuff and treated me with care and affection...

I was discharged this afternoon....and am back at home...
