that's a pretty complicated version. I like to keep things simple, and stick to what has been announced, but maybe they just didn't pay up because they saw all the difficulties and knew it was just going to be more money down a hole, so to speak, and/or they couldn't raise capital for that. not too far fetched. the problem with not reaching the 300mm zones is that we still don't know what's down there or if the deep models are remotely accurate, but the hope that there is still something down there can move right on to the next target. what's the complicated explanation of, after 3 months of drilling last year, when it became known the lower benches probably weren't going to be reached and Tau was going fast over budget, there was an additional 100mm barrels of potential targets in the top 16k that hadn't previously been specifically mentioned, to my recollection. Was it overlooked, did they get a new model, was it just a very low probability that it didn't get specifically mentioned until it became the new default target? So little details are provided that who the hell knows, but as it turned out, there wasn't 100mm barrels, at least in the first 15.5k feet of that $100mm hole. I want to know what was learned from the actual drilling on Tau that 1) ditching it now is the best decision, and 2) what gives them confidence Corvette isn't going to be equally as complex and expensive, and incomplete. Ain't wildcatting fun?
