For decorative purposes, regular silk already possesses luxury feel, and is non allergenic, so that high fashion wedding dresses or luxury sheets and pillowcases that will stop a bullet would seem hardly a big sell or use of Spider Silk. The same would be true of most common attire like casual, dress shirts, pants and so on.

Hi Cluck Kent,

I agree that there will be a huge focus on performance fibers during the growth of this company. But I wouldn't rule out "luxury fabrics". Traditional silk fibers are actually made up by twisting 8-12 individual silk strands into a single fiber. It was impractical to make the fibers with fewer strands of silk because it would make the fiber too delicate for use.

Natural silk fibers have a tensile strength between 350-500 megapascals. Dragon silk has a tensile strength of over 2000 megapascals. Imagine creating a luxury silk fiber with just 2 or 3 strands of dragon silk. It would have the same strength as a normal silk fiber, but be about a quarter of the diameter equating to less friction. Dragon silk will make other luxury fabrics feel like horse hair. Malcolm Fraser said as much in an interview around the time of the first breakthrough. These fibers would have the added bonus of using less material while likely fetching a higher price.

Hope this helps
