The CCNU methylated only trial succumbed to the temptation of setting their threshold level for methylation cutoff too high, thus basically finding the people with the best odds of responding to TMZ without having to worry about the implications of the lower methylated patients they left out. In the end, once all parameters were conservatively addressed, SOC and CCNU were not statistically measurably different.
