Interestingly, when Biogen made the March 2015 announcement that its AD drug, Aducanumab, sharply slowed cognitive decline as the above referenced article illustrates, Biogen shares surged $40 plus points, and afterwards the stock price preceded to sink back then as well — similiar to the surge and sink with the 2018 announcement. It seems that history has indeed repeated itself when you look at what occurred in 2015 and 2018.

Organizations develop a culture which is usually propagated from the top, but not always. Whoever in BIIB executive management released the PR knew it was a lie. We might think that technical/science based organizations are populated with people who are fundamentally honest-truthful characters. In fact most engineers/chemists/biologists/scientists value the truth and can be counted on to always be truthful, even when it is not what others want to hear. Anyone who has been in any technical field for a while will tell you that personal integrity is by far the most important attribute required in such a company and culture. I can say from experience that this belief is a fantasy, do not assume that every company gets this.

I think Biogen (maybe others) has shown they are a culture of dishonesty. And, lets face t, they are good at it. They jacked their SP by a lot of money over a short period w/phony claims and big PR spending. It worked. Someone got a lot of quick money and the system will do nothing to set them straight. That is just the way it is.

When I read the response from AAIC 2018 to my e-mail inquiry on what type of fact checking /verification process they had for presentations I knew the game was rigged. A child could see there was no way that BIIB/BAN scam could be treated as a credible scientific presentation. The whole thing was an open secret I guess and the media was being paid to hype it up, so they did. The SP spiked, the story was told, honest people called it BS and of course they were right.

No wonder this country has not developed an effective treatment for AD or other CNS diseases. AVXL appears to be the only honest game in town. Precision medicine-science is a legitimate initiative, lets hope it gets support. I would love to see $400/shr from BIIB partnership but then what? If the culture does not fix itself and purge such activity they will continue to fail.
