Agree, seems no canal (for now), BUT the Chinese and the Russians seem to want access in the the area besides Cuba. So, back to square one, Bluefields looks perfect for the Caribbean and the Gulf both for communications and subs, maybe other types, and even quick movement to our eastern coast, while they've already made some in roads across the country on the west side. Crossing that lake with deep draft vessels does appear questionable BUT would provide shorter routes to our east coast. I've read where Panama, even with all of the infrastructure, still is not able to take the deep draft vessels that are in and on the way through the pipeline.
