I do not believe that intelligence agencies are a good place to recruit diplomats. I'm even more far out than Rand Paul on this one.

Discarding established precedent and/or the rule of law in order to get things done is a slippery slope.

Probably the closest analogy would be when the Dulles brothers were in charge of State and the CIA simultaneously.

We wound up with things like SEATO and the overthrow of Mohammed Mossadegh in Iran. Great stuff there. But it seemed at the time the end justified the means.

Paying deference to Constitutional procedure has zilch to do with "Political Correctness".
