flatlander, GPS farming has helped cut costs as well. In the GM seeds, now super weeds have developed and I feel the savings has really slowed, some say yields are going down in years 3 and up of use.. What I am betting on is the dollar continuing to fall, no sure thing though. It makes exports to other countries cheaper for them, thus our crop price go up. Also, the US has had bumper crops like two years in a row now. California had like no rain in December and February and the Rockies dry, Lake Mead could go to new lows if the west stays dry. Headlines like that and food goes up. Cal is having nice rain in March now and in the next 10 days, but probably not enough. Unusually warm weather has already melted a lot of spring and early summer reservoir snow.

Bill Gates has been pushing Golden Rice fro 16 years, to little avail. It basically just has vitamin A in it. Many countries have rejected it. There is rice in Africa, maybe he is buying the land to grow his Golden Rice?

Yes, Bill is interested in feeding 3rd world countries, in other ways besides his Golden Rice.
