That Bannister story brings to mind one of my favorite moments in sports.

John Landy had broken Bannisters record about two moths after he set it. They had a head to head match at the 1954 British Commonwealth Games . In Vancouver BC.

As they neared the finish line, Landy was leading. He glanced over his left shoulder, as Bannister passed him on the right. It was thrilling to see the news films of the moment.

In 1972 I was in Vancouver and happened upon a statue of that moment. I got a rush from remembering it.

There are a few advantages to being old. Damn few.
