While we wait for the journal article, thought I'd share an unusual experience I had today. I am not reading anything into this, I just thought it was very weird and wanted to see if anyone else has ever experienced something similar.

I am a retail investor and use E*Trade. Today, I picked up a few more NWBO shares with some spare change in my account. I placed this order around 2:30 this afternoon.

I bought at the ask, and the order cleared. However, instead of being added to my current NWBO holdings total, it created a new "security" on the E*Trade homescreen. For those of you familiar with E*Trade, you'll know what I mean. My holdings screen looks like this:

NWBO XXXX Shares
XXXX XXXX Shares
XXXX XXXX Shares
NWBO XXXX Shares

At first, I thought I might have typo'd my order or accidentally bought NWBOW, but that is not what happened. I bought more NWBO.

So I asked E*Trade Customer Service what was up on live chat mode. Here is the response I received (redacted for E*Trade Rep and my name):

Question (ME): NWBO purchase of XXXX shares several minutes ago was not added to my current holdings but was treated as if it was a position in a different security. Is this just a glitch?
ETRADE: Thank you for contacting E*TRADE. My name is ETRADE. I will be happy to assist you today.
ME: Hi ETRADE, thanks for your time and assistance.
ETRADE: I see, allow me a moment while I review the order and confirm the status.
ETRADE: Okay, I'm seeing the same thing, this can often happen if the company is currently going through a name change or merger. Allow me a few more minutes while I confirm that.
ME: OK, thanks.
ETRADE: Okay, I apologize for the confusion above, there isn't any corporate actions. However, I will submit a request to combine both positions of NWBO into one. Allow us about 1-2 days will it is reviewed.

Anyone else ever have this experience with NWBO or any other security while using E*Trade? I've been using E*Trade a long time, and it's a first for me.

Again, I am NOT reading anything into this other than this was just an E*Trade technical glitch as explained by the live chat operator, but I did think it was interesting that the first response from the operator was that this typically occurs in connection with corporate action.

As of now, my account still shows my 2 NWBO "positions".

Anyways, I am just bored, waiting on a journal article, and thought I'd share the experience. GLTA.
