All hospitals should require all employees and volunteers to have the shot. A MN hospital finally required all folks to have the shot or to be fired. They were allowed very strict religious requirements to op out and not allowed to interact with any patients in the future - My hospital requires everyone working in the hospital to get the flue shot, or wear a mask and not come in contact with patients...even us volunteers are required to get the shot in the Fall. Last Thursday my hospital was overwhelmed with ER patients coming in with the flu and/or pneumonia - patient beds were lined up in ER hallway waiting for an avail bed upstairs...we heard similar stories from other hospitals in the area.
