I also have a older doctor. Probably about my age (low 70's.) At my annual physical every year he always makes sure that I have had my flu shot. Yes, this year it doesn't seem to be as effective as most years. But it is better than not getting one. The flu is not the stomach flu, cold type flu that we all get every winter. It is a much more severe viral infection that can kill you rather quickly.

Many folks have found that out this winter. It can require hospitalization and not always will you recover. Many have died this winter and the flu season is just getting started. All hospitals should require all employees and volunteers to have the shot. A MN hospital finally required all folks to have the shot or to be fired. They were allowed very strict religious requirements to op out and not allowed to interact with any patients in the future.

Remember that you CANNOT get the flu from the shot. There is a old wives tale that you can get the flu from the shot. It is not true and have been proven not true in many scientific studies.
