If loss of the myelin sheath is prevented, multiple sclerosis is prevented.

In multiple sclerosis, as with normal human morphology, "wires" are nerves, linear tissues of individual nerve cells connected at synapses; along which electro-chemical nerve signals travel. The myelin sheath surrounds nerves, the "wires," keeping the signals intact. Loss of the myelin sheath allows nerve signals to degenerate and get absorbed in adjacent tissues. Nerve function is lost.

Myelin is the "insulation" surrounding nerves.
