Here is a wild conspiracy theory... it's pretty whacky but let me throw it out there:

Is there any chance in hell that at the 60% IA, the first DMC recommendation was to stop, Amarin didn't want to stop, discussed with FDA and both decided to roll everyone over into the Vascepa group. Amarin told this to DMC, DMC 'recommended to continue'. Everyone is in the Vascepa arm (as of ~September 12). Public does not know this.

This would explain why it took 11.5 months from 60% onset to 80% onset and why the final onset is being pushed to 2018.
