mlsoft - Doubt if this has an bearing on your problem, but FWIW...

Yesterday, Comcast got around to switching servers in my area. I noticed when I first got on the 'puter that I was receiving 3 emails, but was in a hurry to check stocks.

About an hour later, I noticed I was still trying to receive those 3 emails, so the fun began trying to figure out why.

To complicate matters, I've downloaded IncrediMail software to "pretty up" my emails. Basically it just routes email from Outlook Express to their software.

After an hour or two trying to figure out if the problem was IncrediMail or OE, re-configuring both, etc. (I could send, but not receive) I get this email from Comcast telling me about switching servers.

I have no idea how that happened, because I was still trying to receive those 3 emails AFTER I got the one from Comcast. How it got through I have no idea.

Comcast email had a wizard to make the switch easier...HAH!

After using it, I got another "miracle" email saying my new addy was now xxxxxxx@attbi.com@comcast.net, lol.

(Trying to shorten this, lol) Spent the rest of the afternoon playing with it, until I finally got an error message #.

Went to the MSFT Knowledge base, and it turns out that Norton is the culprit! Workaround was to uncheck "scan incoming email" in their anti-virus section. Did that, and the emails came through.

14 months using Norton with the box checked and no problems, but now I have to NOT scan incoming email? One of the main virus entry ways?

Finally got everything configured, email addy straightened out and went back into Norton, put the checkmark back in the box.

Everything working fine again!

Needless to say Comcast is not high on my favorites list right now, lol. A simple line about the Norton thing would have been nice.
