Pennydream - It does not have to go to trial for the case to drag on, the Judge can hear all the arguments, on what individual Claims within the Patents are vaild and not vaild.

There are multiple sections of each Patent called Claims.

Expert Witnesses can be heard thoughout the proceedings, and then the Judge can make the decisions thoughout the proceeding on the individual claims, as in the previous Lawsuit with Phonefactor. At which point the defendants can choose to settle or choose to go on to a trial.
