Basic question on Vaccines for Cancer

My understanding of Vaccines is - you give it at early stage and it will give protection for long period.

This approach makes sense for pnemonia-chicken pox etc - as they are transferrable and can become epidemic.

Cancer on other had very specific and does not make sense to give this vaccine to all.

Is cancer vaccine different than other vaccines?
