Blue,

"Wavedreamer, you believed. You spent your days searching the Net for Wave connections. And of all the connections you turned up, what has come of any of them? Your convincing arguments?"

In the beginning (2007 for me) I believed in a simple concept on how to protect Endpoints with the TPM and Data at Rest using self encrypting drives. Did not know much about the details of the technology but Wave was there in the beginning so why not invest. A small micro stock why not take a flier. Wave would get a piece of the TC market when the market engaged. A reasonable assumption JMO.

In 2009 and 2011 they did receive orders for their software to manage TPM’s at PWC and SED’s at GM/BP/BASF. The stock price reflected those sales at that time and then a gradual decline in sales, Dell Support, the SP to the end result in Feb/2016.

From about 2009 I wanted to know more and more about the TCG technology and how it related to Smart Cards, the PKI system, Hypervisors, different OS's. How the various standards groups were viewing the technology, what the NSA's involvement was etc.

Quite a learning curve in the tech and stock market, what a journey, and I still don't know all the answers to my questions. I still follow the related industries to the TCG, GlobalPlatform/NIAP/Common Criteria and the big players involved in pushing the TPM/SED's/PKI/TEE's and Secure Elements forward.

All those IT Chips/Software continue to be refined and used in Consumer Electronic devices and Cloud Servers globally.

As for Wave, using hindsight, their runway ran out. Intel stated in the fall of 2013 that no TPM 1.2 could be sold or used by the Federal Gov’t after 2013 due to the replacement of the SHA-1 encryption algorithm that the TPM 1.2 was solely dependent on. The TPM 2.0 would be required which can use multiple algorithms. Fact was no gov’t agencies were using any TPM even though they were demanded to be in PC hardware since 2006. That will change with the DOD migrating to Win 10. Microsoft subsumed everything Wave was trying to accomplish. Management of SED’s using Bitlocker when the NSA gives the go ahead and even TPM attestation services are now available using Microsoft’s Cloud platform Azure and Intune Mobile Device Management Platform. Also, MS is getting all the third party major MDM companies to tie into the TPM Attestation service offered by MS.

Dell saw what was coming in 2013, why use Wave when Microsoft was incorporating the management of the TPM into the OS.

I’m sure other’s can add their version of what happened to Wave but I believe SKS saw the writing on the wall back in 2013 and got out while a golden hand shake was available. I’m not sure Solm’s knew what he was getting into when he took on the job, either that or he was paid well enough to put an ink stain on his resume with taking Wave out.

I took a big hit in the fall of 2015 and many road it to the end.

I still say you should write a “Wave” Book. You maybe one of the few that makes a buck or two on the Wave story. JMO
