Meetings are the fruit of all this delegated responsibility. Doing things by committee is typically a fustercluck. Nobody has full authority to take large decisions (or at least they all feel the need to avoid blame and CYA by saying 'well the committee decided' when SHTF).

Good, successful companies are run by key leaders. Warren Buffett and his buddy. Steve Jobs. Bill Gates. Michael Dell. Steve Case. George Rathmann and then Gordon Binder. Andrew Carnegie. John D. Rockefeller. Larry Ellison. Jeff Bezos.

Oh, and even The Donald - in real estate anyway.

I would add that perhaps womens' noted failure as CEOs - and they have had many, many chances, may in fact be due to a lack of a necessary "alpha male" component of personality (on average). One also finds few beta males as CEOs of successful companies either.

Why was the US Third Army in France much more successful than Montgomery's larger army (see In re Market Garden)?

Answer: Third Army was led by Patton.

Patton also beat Monty to Messina and Palermo.

Why?

Key man - making all the key decisions solo. One mind grasping the gestalt of the big picture and the small details too.

Hell, he gott ~OUTT and directed traffic at one point, and at another gott ~OUTT to a blockage on a bridge and directed its immediate clearance. That is non-delegatable (sp) leadership and command.
