"In litigation, everyone asks for an extension and it is always granted assuming you ask before the deadline to answer."

LOL!!!

What school is teaching this crapola?

Extensions are NOTT "always" agreed to or granted by the court. Who the HELL is teaching this utter crapola to kids these days?

Is this a correspondence school?

Cooley?

Oh my - the advice from those who have never litigated serious cases in major courts is worthless.

Good luck telling Judge Kenelly or Zagel that you want your third extension because you are planning a vacation for your 50th birthday. I've seen that exact excuse tried by a lawyer and the judge (one of the two above) blew his stack and threatened to sanction the lawyer for a frivolous motion - even though it was unopposed!

My gosh. Those professors spewing that stuff must be teaching because they are unable to make it in a real litigation job. That statement is just soo, sooo wrong is so many ways!
