They certainly don't have the pitching. Of course, if you count all the young guys the Red Sox are just bringing up right now as bonified Major Leaguers and disregard them then the Red Sox might be considered to have a weakend cupboard.
But Papelbon, Delcarmen, Hansen, Lester, Pauley, Van Buren and even Di Nardo is a very impressive group that would still be in the minors if not for injuries to the Red Sox staff right now.
I don't know of anyone else with that depth of talent on the verge of becoming Major Leaguers right now.
I want the Devil Rays to be successful, but they are not at the same level as the Red Sox or the Yankees.
