Charlie,
According to the presentation from Greg Morris of GE Aviation from Sept 2013.

At the 18:30 mark he talks about needing 50-60 machines in "then technology" to be able to produce the 40,000 Fuel nozzles per year....

Production is to start in 2016 but the 40,000 Fuel Nozzles per year aren't needed until 2022-2023. My guess is with "todays" technology they could probably start out with 20 or so beginning in 2016 and adding more machines every year as needed. However, that is only one part, for one engine and one supplier...... Many more machines are needed because they want to make every part possible with AM. The next 5 years in metal should see great growth....

The 26:45 mark tells us what many here already know....consolidation in the industry will happen sooner than later...

the 29:20 mark - Nice to see where EBM stands, nice plug for the Q10 with the surface finish and glad to hear about the powder problem in internal passages on the LEAP fuel nozzle. Sounds to me like they are testing EBM on more parts than just the LTP Blades....EBM will have it's own niche and I'm sure there will be many, many parts in which GE can leverage EBM.
