I think that squarely puts some serious value on MVTG fuel cell patents, and shows that Ballard is making BIG $$$$$$$ money buying and selling patents, and making a mix of patents to keep and to sell, and it confirms what I have been saying about MVTG patent values, and that Ballard's PEM membrane fuel cells are old tech now when in comes to trying to tap the vehicle markets, where cost, weight and size are all critical. Could Ballard be planning to make a deal with MVTG next?

If the old Ballard and United Tech fuel cell patents that are outdated and soon to be obsolete are worth that much, what price tag might the MVTG fuel cell patents, or licenses draw?

Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP; TSX: BLD) today announced that the Company has entered into a Technology Solutions transaction with Volkswagen Group (Volkswagen AG, www.volkswagenag.com and Audi AG, www.audi.com) for an aggregate amount of approximately US$80 million for the transfer of certain automotive-related fuel cell intellectual property (IP) and a two-year extension of an engineering services contract. Ballard will transfer the automotive-related portion of fuel cell IP assets previously acquired from United Technologies Corporation, in return for payments from Volkswagen Group totaling US$50 million

Also note worthy that Ballard, like MVTG is earning revenue from

"an engineering services contract"

Selling and doing Engineering services, consulting and R&D for hire is a far easier market to enter, scale up, sell, market, grow and profit from, in very little time, than taking an ERC to full scale system installation and operation time wise....

That is why Larry was smart to enter MVTG into the revenue stage with services sold to Alstom tied to the ERC commercialization!!!
