Living 100% off grid is my dream too, that is what brought me to SLTD four years ago. I have been waiting and dreaming of the day I can purchase their panels and build my dream earthship.

If you are looking for small, sustainable off-grid, self sufficient housing that produces its own power, collects rainwater, treats sewage, passive solar heating and cooling, and grows food then check out Earthships if you haven't already looked into them.

While I do not like the whole using trash and tires to build with, Michael's architecture can be adapted to use standard building materials. I personally am thinking of using insulated concrete forms for everything, floors, ceilings, and walls. Add the greenhouse grey-water treatment sun room on the front, solar hot water panels on the roof feeding the under-floor heating, and of course the piece-de-resistance Solar3D panels on the roof generating all the power and storing that energy in batteries.
