Apple's statement of "surprise" came itself as a surprise to me because it seems to run contrary to TG's statements, in its August business update AND in the most recent 10Q, that GTAT's only problems were sapphire production related. I.e., if that were GTAT's sole issue, you'd think that they could have negotiated a workaround directly with Apple rather than resorting to so public a solution as bankruptcy, Apple would have known about the threat of bankruptcy in advance. Hopefully, Hanlon's Razor doesn't apply here. I really did think GT management were both smart and lucky....

Thus my guess is that the polysilicon revenues, AND Sapphire LED related sales on which they were counting have also cratered, and TG has a lot of 'splaining to do.
