Well said Slate, very balanced. MSFT is certainly a "foe" that Wave should be keeping an eye on. I don't dismiss MSFT as easily as some here. They have a habit of being a jerk in the industry, and I have *NO* doubt that they are doing what they can to delay either the TCG, or make it difficult for Wave to succeed. They may not be competing, but they are certainly aren't making it easy.
We have seen the shift, however, when Intel and MSFT tried to collaborate on NGSCB. MSFT delayed and it *seemed* (to me) that Intel got irritated. Now we see a new architecture for the trusted components, and Intel and AMD have been embracing Apple products. We see virtualization to allow multiple OS. But we see Apple locking their OS to an Apple PC, which may actually be a stab at Intel to prevent Intel's virtualization to allow OSX to run on non-100%-Apple PCs. "Apptel" may not happen as we know it. There are a lot of unknowns that will only be played out years from now.
