Regarding Mr Softy...

Having made a living on software development in the Microsoft world, I've maintained a love-hate relationship with them since Windows 3.0.

I could easily fill several sheets of paper and list all of the companies Microsoft has screwed over the years either by its predatory tactics or by its tendancies to bundle similiar competitor's products right into the "OS". Most of the high profile names I'm sure everyone is well aware of, but there are many, many small companies who literally went out of business overnight.

Personally, I'd prefer Wave stay Microsoft neutral and have no "formal" relationships whatsoever. There are enough Microsoft enemies out there to warrant this MO. One of the things SKS and co. should be applauded for, is how they are positioning the company and technology to the rest of the IT world. And while they need to be keenly aware of the Microsoft gorilla, they have to make sure the banana is out of reach from Mr Bill and that they be sure to offer the banana to all the other gorillas too.

I'm not sure yet in my mind whether the Vista release will be a big negative, big positive or somewhere in between to Wave. Time will tell...
