Ilika CEO Graeme Purdy on 50Ah Goliath EV battery prototype milestone; scaling up

Ilika PLC (AIM:IKA, OTCQX:ILIKF) CEO Graeme Purdy joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with details about the company's latest milestone—the successful prototyping of its 50Ah Goliath EV battery. This marks a significant leap from the previous 2Ah prototype, representing a 25-fold increase in capacity. Purdy highlighted the importance of scaling up production to meet industry requirements. "We need to make sure that we've got reproducibility. What industry needs is not just a few successful cells but large-scale, reliable production," he said. Ilika has benefited from £2.8 million in grant funding through the Faraday Battery Challenge, which Purdy noted has effectively doubled the impact of investor funding. In parallel, Ilika has also demonstrated its manufacturing process at a giga-scale setting through a partnership with the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC). Atrato Capital on Supermarket Income REIT’s growth strategy; benefits of internalisation

Supermarket Income REIT PLC (LSE:SUPR, OTC:SUPIF) fund manager Robert Abraham and finance director Michael Perkins take Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the company’s interim results for the six months to December 2024. Abraham highlighted the company’s strategic progress, including cost reductions through the proposed internalisation of its management team, asset disposals, and lease renewals. He noted that a recent disposal to Tesco demonstrated the value of these assets, selling at a 7% premium to book value. The lease renewals extended three short-term leases to 15 years at significantly higher rental rates, reflecting the strong demand for top-performing supermarket assets. Discussing financial benefits, Abraham explained that internalisation is expected to save the company £4 million annually, strengthening earnings and dividend cover. He also mentioned plans to explore a potential listing change to attract more investors and enhance capital access. Perkins outlined the financial performance, noting a 10% increase in net rental income to £58 million and a reduction in the upper cost ratio to 13.6%. Earnings per share rose by 3%, and the portfolio’s like-for-like valuation grew by 0.5% to £1.8 billion. The company’s loan-to-value ratio stands at 38%, ensuring financial flexibility for future strategic initiatives. Frontier IP investee GraphEnergyTech discusses solar panel collaboration

GraphEnergyTech CEO Dr Thomas Baumeler discussed a collaboration with the Taiwan Perovskite Solar Corporation, Taiwan’s prestigious Industrial Technology Research Institute and the University of Cambridge. The project is supported by an Innovate UK grant worth nearly £900,000. Known as GETPSC (Graphene Electrode Technology for Perovskite Solar Cells), Baumeler explained that current solar cells rely on expensive silver electrodes, which degrade when in contact with Perovskite Solar Cells. GraphEnergyTech, a Frontier IP Group PLC (AIM:FIPP) portfolio company, aims to replace these with graphene-based electrodes, offering a more stable and cost-effective alternative. "Graphene is one of the most interesting materials out there," he said, highlighting its durability and lower cost compared to silver. Perovskite Solar Cells are considered the next major advancement in photovoltaics due to their efficiency and simpler manufacturing process. However, industrial-scale adoption has been hindered by the lack of a viable nonmetallic electrode—something GraphEnergyTech aims to solve. Baumeler also noted that GraphEnergyTech is working on replacing silver electrodes in traditional silicon-based solar cells while exploring applications for its conductive carbon-based technology in batteries, supercapacitors, and electronics. KEFI Gold and Copper gets green light to progress with Tulu Kapi project in Ethiopia
