Has the Rare Earth Bubble Finally Burst?
Just noticed this article today. If you look around, most REE stocks are way below their highs. Hopefully the one's we're in are among the 5-10% that will make it.

Super post Sunrize.
Thanks for your take on Stans...
Thanks...
I was just wondering, because I just watched Stans go up 10 fold since Sept. while I chose Great Western as the HREE to beat...
From the latest Quarterly report just released:
Rare Earths prices continued to rise rapidly. The average quarterly price for the Mount Weld Rare Earths distribution increased by 83% over the quarter to US$62.18/kg REO. The price continued to increase after the end of the quarter and as at 21 January 2011 reached US$79.90/kg REO.
The signing of a Strategic Alliance Agreement with Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”), will enable, if implemented, Phase 2 construction to be committed by April 2011 with a scheduled construction completion date in the third quarter of 2012, expanding the capacity of the LAMP to 22,000 tonnes REO per annum.
Assuming success of the Sojitz transaction the Company has now allocated more than 70% of the total 22,000 REO tonne capacity from Phase 1 and Phase 2.

Honest question...
What does Stans Energy Corp. (STZYF) have going for it that we don't?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Can you tell me please what date the uplisting is. Enjoyed the run-up on AVL and would love to get in on this one too :)
Actually, according to Stock Gumshoe, the company that Sovereign Society is refering to is Greenland Minerals and Energy (GGG in Australia, GDLNF on the pink sheets.

Australia Markets closed for New Year’s Day on Monday Jan. 3
According to Stock Gumshoe, a site I use to help figure those teases out, the company that Sovereign Society is refering to is Greenland Minerals and Energy (GGG in Australia, GDLNF on the pink sheets), the same stock that according to Stock Gumshoe was teased by Chris Mayer back in October.

By the way, I find that site a pretty good resource.
It's a little off topic, but can anyone tell me what they think of Greenland Minerals and Energy?
Thanks. I love stories with happy endings!
It's easy to have fun when you own shares of Lynas! :)
I appreciate you guys continuing to update the info board. I think the old stuff I put on needs a little updating though. It's still showing the project schedule with first production in 2009. I haven't seen a more updated schedule to replace it, so maybe we should just delete it. I love the bubble graph. That would be nice to have. We can also add a link to the "average Mt Weld composition price."
Any other ideas?

I'm glad people finally woke up.

Reuters article says miners are the winners in China rare-earths controversy
I think we're all winners, too :)
FACTBOX-Winners & losers from China rare-earths controversy3:47am EDT
Oct 20 (Reuters) - China has curtailed exports of rare earths, causing offshore consumers to consider alternative supply sources for the minerals which are used in everything from TV screens and computers to mobile phones and toys.
China supplies about 95 percent of the world's rare earths.
Following is a list of winners and losers if China's rare earths exports dry up:
LOSERS - MANUFACTURERS
* Industrial manufacturers in Japan and Korea, which consumed a fifth of the world's rare earths last year, would be hardest hit by reduced Chinese exports. Sectors that would bear the brunt of restricted supplies would be makers of metal alloys, magnets, catalytic converters and polishing compounds.
* In the United States, manufacturers of catalytic converters would suffer the most, followed by the metal alloying and ceramic-making sectors.
* European Union consumers would face shortages mainly in manufacturing of catalytic converters, given the high concentration of auto-making in the region.
WINNERS - MINERS
* Some new and mothballed rare earths producers would likely get the green light to proceed if China's exports dried up. Many of these projects did not make economic sense while China completely dominated the market. The major projects are:
* Mountain Pass, located in the United States and owned by Molycorp Minerals (MCP.AX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz): once the world's largest producer of rare earths, the mine ceased removing ore from its open pit in 2002. Molycorp has continued some production from existing stocks and plans to restart mining an annual rate of 18,000 tonnes in 2012.
* Hoidas Lake (Canada, Great Western Minerals Group (GWG.V: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)): the project is at an advanced exploration stage with start-up tentatively scheduled for post-2014 at an annual rate of 3,000-5000 tonnes a year.
* Nechalacho (Canada, Avalon Ventures Inc (AVL.TO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)): early exploration and costing work is underway to develop a project in about five years producing 3,000-5,000 tonnes a year.
* Mt Weld (Australia, Lynas Corp (LYC.AX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)): due to start up in 2011, initially producing about 10,500 tonnes, rising to 21,000 tonnes annually in 2013.
* Dubbo Zirconia (Australia, Alkane Resources (ALK.AX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)): could be activated as early as 2013 at an annual rate of 2,500 tonnes.
* Nolans (Australia, Arafura Resources (ARU.AX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)): tentatively scheduled to be in production in 2014 and operating at an annual rate of 20,000 tonnes.
* Kvanefjeld (Greenland, Greenland Minerals & Energy (GGG.AX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)): the mine is being designed to produce 20,000 tonnes of rare earths as a co-product to uranium. No start date has been disclosed. (Reporting by James Regan; Editing by Mark Bendeich)

I hate to sound like a broken record, but last night...
Arafura was up another 5.5% to $1.71 Aus on more than double avg volume.
People must be catching on :)
We're up another 5.5% already in Aus.
Here's another recent (Oct. 8) article written about REEs.
Guess who's at the top of the list again ;)

Nice B4!
No, I didn't buy at those cheap prices. When the price went down, I doubted myself and what I believed was a great investment, so I didn't buy any more. That belief did keep me from selling though...

B4-
What's considered young? ;) Anyway, thanks for your thoughts.
For the longest time (Since early 2007, through all its ups and downs) I only owned Lynas. About a month ago when the buzz was getting louder, I bought several others, and some more Lynas! :)
BTW, I'm not looking for any recognition, but I created the board way back when (some of the data in the iBox shows its age). I'm not much of an investor, or analyst, but when I read about Lynas, I just couldn't believe a board didn't exist for it...I'm glad you came along (along with FJ) to take the reigns!
Here's wishing us all the best of luck...
Can anyone explain how one would figure out the value of a rare earth mining company such as Lynas? I would think that it's the total value of the product mined and sold plus the value of all equipment, etc. minus debt, expenses, etc.
BUT, the supply of rare earths in a mine is limited, so what happens to the value of the company over time?
I know this is an over simplification, but as the P/S keeps going up (and I'm happy it is, b/c I own several thousand shares), I wonder to myself how far it can go before it's considered in bubble teritory (since I've been burned before, bubblewise)...
Comments?
Mord
"We have already got plans to double our capacity and we're going to bring that plan forward and accelerate it as much as possible. And we have potentially more capacity as well, and if they find the market, we will deliver into that market. We are very confident we have the market to double our capacity, the question is whether we have the market to do more than that."
(CEO Nicholas Curtis in a 26-Sep The Australian article)
Nice!
