Thanks for the update. Writing my
'representative' today.
Shhhh..... Obama is on Leno.
Will that apply to the new White House Garden, too?
Hmmm.....

great analogy,
or should I say, 'super duper!' LOL
Dead cat bounce?
How about a 'gun buy-back' program? Other than the fact
they never deter homicides/robberies involving guns, they're
a great idea--for politicians.
KC's former mayor, Emmanuel Cleaver (sadly now a U.S. Congressman) was a big proponenet of buy-backs. I think he initiated two of them while mayor, although it may have only been one. He would do all the photo ops after, talking about what a HUGE success it had been. Success, in this case, apparently meant getting guns out of citizens hands and into government hands--using taxpayer dollars. Only violent crime did not go down. KC continues to have a serious homicide problem. Probably just a matter of time until some other politico pulls out their 'let's do a buy-back' pom-poms. LOL
New e-mail spam from TEAM Obama. Apparently, our
Community Activist in Chief needs our support.
Joe --
The current debate in Washington over President Obama's budget has made one thing clear -- ensuring our long-term prosperity won't come without a fight.
Partisan voices and special interests are showing real resistance to President Obama's call for making the necessary reforms and investments in energy, health care, and education. That's why we need to bring the conversation back into homes and communities across America.
Last week, thousands of you pledged your support for the President's economic plan and encouraged your friends and family to join you in a national display of support. Now I need you to take the next step.
This weekend, supporters like you are organizing Pledge Project Canvasses to talk to people in their communities about this plan and mobilize support in neighborhoods across the country.
Host or attend a Pledge Project Canvass in your neighborhood this weekend.
It's absolutely crucial that Americans hear from you about this plan -- we can't leave this important debate up to a Washington establishment that doesn't welcome change.
It's up to you to show Washington that Americans are demanding this new direction and won't stand on the sidelines while our country's future is at stake.
On these canvasses, you'll join fellow supporters in your community to:
Talk with people about the President's plan
Ask them to sign their names to the pledge
Provide information on how to contact and urge their elected representatives to support the plan
Host or attend a canvass this weekend:
http://my.barackobama.com/pledgecanvass
Nothing is more powerful than having people hear from ordinary Americans about the vision President Obama has laid out for our country. Join us this weekend.
Thanks,

There would have been massive riots prompted, in part by round-the-clock coverage by MSNBC ? Just a guess.
How Long Do We Have?
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'
'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'
'>From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'
'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'
'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty;
4. from liberty to abundance;
5. from abundance to complacency;
6. from complacency to apathy;
7. from apathy to dependence;
8. from dependence back into bondage'
Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...' Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.
If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

Just received this and wanted to post before I forgot.
Like any good journalist, I haven't bothered doing
any fact checking yet. LOL
If only...
True. I believe he was 'placed' in that position
as an acceptable second, just in case main man Obama
didn't win. Of course, I love a good conspiracy theory. LOL
I guess my point was that he was immediately
ridiculed by the media for that foolish
remark. Yet now, when there's a very real likelyhood
that that's exactly what will happen (and probably worse)
and King Obama does nothing to stop it, there's hardly
a finger lifted by the media in objection.
Dr. Paul claimed that we could completely abolish the federal income tax for ALL taxpayers and still nearly balance the budget if we brought our troops home from all foreign countries. Of course, that's obviously NOT the objective of 'our' government.
Sadly, you're probably right.
In reality, after the “withdrawal” of U.S. troops in 19 months, “Mr. Obama plans to leave behind a “residual force” of tens of thousands of troops to continue training Iraqi security forces, hunt down foreign terrorist cells and guard American institutions,” reported the New York Times
Hell, we might have troops there for
another 50 years or so. Of course, McCain was
an idiot for mentioning that.
BTW--I'd be interested to know if there are any
'anti-war' protests regarding the coming surge
in Afganistan....
Although I don't agree with everything in this letter, it's still an excellent read.
I’m Tired
Robert A. Hall
I’ll be 63 soon. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce, and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.
I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth around” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.
I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the leftwing Congresscritters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them—with their own money.
I’m tired of being told how bad America is by left wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the religious freedom and women’s rights of Saudi Arabia, the economy of Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China, the crime and violence of Mexico, the tolerance for Gay people of Iran, and the freedom of speech of Venezuela. Won’t multiculturalism be beautiful?
I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor;” of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers;” of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery;” of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.
I believe “a man should be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin.” I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of President Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirm ative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of US Senators from Illinois. I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the emancipation proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less in an all-knowing government.
I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful. That thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress, that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his, that slammed Palin with two years as governor for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever.
Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.
I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures” we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America, while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.
I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.
I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.
I’m tired of illegal aliens being called “undocumented workers,” especially the ones who aren’t working, but are living on welfare or crime. What’s next? Calling drug dealers, “Undocumented Pharmacists”? And, no, I’m not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic and it’s been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I’m willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person who can speak English, doesn’t have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military. Those are the citize ns we need.
I’m tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people then themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years—and still are? Not even close. So here’s the deal. I’ll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we’ll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troo ps in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.
I’m tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers—bums are bi-partisan. And I’m tired of people telling me we need bi-partisanship. I live in Illinois, where the “Illinois Combine” of Democrats and Republicans has worked together harmoniously to loot the public for years. And I notice that the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet are bi-partisan as well.
I’m tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I’m tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.
Speaking of poor, I’m tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn’t have that in 1970, but we didn’t know we were “poor.” The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.
I’m real tired of people who don’t take responsibility for their lives and actions. I’m tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination, or big-whatever for their problems.
Yes, I’m damn tired. But I’m also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I’m not going to get to see the world these people are making. I’m just sorry for my granddaughter.

Meet the new boss. Same as the old Boss.
According to this e-mail I recieved yesterday, the 'playing field' will be leveled soon enough. This hacker looks to save many dollars in greens fees alone. LOL
Subject: OBAMA GOLF
THE USGA WOULD LIKE TO INFORM ALL GOLFERS OF NEW OBAMA RULES
There are MAJOR rule changes to the game of golf, effective now, November 5th.
This is only a preview as the complete rule book is being written now.
Here are a couple of basic changes.
Golfers with handicaps:
- below 10 will have their green fees increase by 35%
- between 11 and 18 will see no increase in green fees
- above 18 will play for free and even get a check from the club/course played
The dollar amount put in for bets will be as follows:
-for handicaps below 10 an additional $10 -between 11 and 18 no additional
amount -above 18 you will receive the total amount in the pot and you do not
even have to play.
The term "gimme" putt will be changed to "entitlement" and will be used as
follows:
-handicaps below 10, no entitlements
-handicaps above 11 to 17, entitlements for putter length putts -handicaps above 18, if on green, no need to ever putt, just pick it up
These "entitlements" are intended to bring about fairness in scoring so > that
the final scores of all players will be about the same.
In addition, a Player will be limited to a max of one birdie and/or six
pars, any excess must be given to those fellow players who have not yet
scored a birdie or par. Only after all players have received a birdie or par
from the player making the birdie or par, can that Player begin to count his
score again.
The current USGA handicap system will be used for the above purposes but the term "net score" will be available only for scoring those players with
handicaps 18 and above.
This is intended to "redistribute" the success of winning by making sure
that in every competition the above 18 handicap players will post only "net
score" against every other player's gross score.
These new Rules are intended to CHANGE the game of golf. Golf must be about
Fairness Only, it should have nothing to do with Ability.
"My comment: Warren Buffett finally opening his eyes a sliver to the reality that he lives in a faux world of faux dollars in a faux system."
Indeed!
I wrote our local 'misRepresentative' back when the original bailout was proposed by Bush (it's called TARP now, isn't it?) letting him know that I was STRONGLY opposed to it.
Eventually he wrote back (a form letter) stating that he
felt it was in the country's best interest to pass the bill (in spite of the fact that the vast majority of his constituents who spoke up were opposed to it) and said that the great investor Warren Buffett was one of the bills major backers. LOL
OF COURSE Warren is in favor of these bailouts! He stands to profit hugely by them, doesn't he?!
Maybe it's time to dust off my copy
of Atlas Shrugged...

shermann7,
The reference to Orwell's 1984 and the
government's use of Doublespeak to deceive
the citizens wasn't meant to imply that
this administration was any more, or less,
guilty than previous administrations. Bush
created the Department of Homeland Security, which
allows the government to essentially spy on
you and your family. Feel more secure? There
are countless other examples, I'm sure.
"Obama's New budget is the most transparent since Reagan"
So what? That's like saying, "Well, at least the
thief showed me his gun before he mugged me."
True transparency might be more along the lines
of admitting that continuing to 'create' money out
of thin air to pay for tried and failed techniques
from 70 years ago (see FDR) is likely to prolong
the economic downturn...
Does 'transparency' equal integrity?
And now Obama is proposing to make things worse. More bailouts…more giveaways…more programs…more bureaucrats… Already, the ‘rich’ support whole sections of the population. Obama says he will raise taxes on ‘the rich,’ creating even more parasites. Of course, who cares if the rich have less money? They will still live in their leafy suburbs and send their children to private schools. But pity the poor parasites.[i/]
The party that promises to rob Peter to
pay Paul, can ALWAYS count on the support of Paul.
As a small business owner, I know that the
more you tax the 'wealthy', the less they
will need my services. The less they buy from
me, the less my family has to spendm, ect...
I heard someone say we've gone from a
free-market to a freeloader market.
"Words can shield the most blatant reality. Legislation to take away workers’ rights to a secret ballot, when deciding whether or not they want to be represented by a labor union, is called the “Employee Free Choice Act.”
The merits or demerits of this legislation have seldom been debated. Who could be against “free choice”?
The Obama administration’s new budget, with deficits that make previous irresponsible deficits look like child’s play, has a cover that says “A New Era of Responsibility.”
Orwellian, to say the least.
not sure if you meant Gerald Celente,
however it would be hard to get any darker
than this one....
Dr. Paul tells it like it needs to be told. e/
This one's making the rounds....

What an interesting board. I make
a very pedestrian post and get
two movie recommendations. Sweet.
I'll check out Fireproof, too.
As far as movies related to my post,
one of my favorites from the 70's is
A Boy and His Dog. lol (Anyone who's seen
it, especially the ending, will understand.)
Thanks for the welcome and the
movie rec. I'll check it out.
Nice story, asus. Sorry you had to give up
your dog in the break up, though. It's
obvious you two had/have a strong connection.
(I like the saying that death ends a life, not a relationship. I guess that works for pets, too.)
A few years ago I was extremely unhappy in
my marriage and confided in a good friend
that I would leave, if I thought there was
any chance I could take the dog with me. :))
Thankfully, the marriage, and the dog,
have both survived.
BTW--Thanks for the invite to the board. Hope
everyone has a great weekend.
Joe
I have a close relative who's
living off government money and
see's nothing wrong with the
'nanny state'. Sigh....
asus, I thought it an excellent metaphor
for what seems to have been happening in our
country--the U.S.A.--for a long, long
time. As a 'corn gatherer' (taxpaying citizen)
I find myself becoming increasingly outspoken
in my opposition to this scam.
Too little, too late?
BTW--Haven't spent much time on I-Hub lately,
and haven't visited your board in awhile. I
did pick up a copy of Dr. Paul's The Revolution
after reading your comments about it.
Thank you for that. What an eye-opener that book
has been!
Be well.

Catching Wild Pigs
A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.
The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.
In the midst of his story he looked at th e professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.
Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.
One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.
Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!
Keep your eyes on the newly elected politicians who are about to slam the gate on America ..

"Just a note: I have found that storage does become a problem - I'm buying my second safe (a much larger one) - true 'goldbugs' have the edge in that department. haha "
LOL
BTW--Have you used NWT to sell any gold
or silver?
For those who are buying/holding
physical silver, what is the preferred
form? TIA
Joe
Question for the board--
Are there any who are still buying
physical gold at these levels, or is
this a hold/sell area?
Same regarding silver.
I know there are many opinions, just
looking for input. TIA
