This is killing me! Ohtani is probably only getting one SP per week, but if he keeps pitching like last week, most weeks would be worth putting in as SP. On the other side, looking like an outright hitting stud, but if he is only hitting three times per week, tough to put him in as a position player. Maybe as the season goes on, he starts getting maybe five games per week as a hitter, which then if he keeps raking is a no brainer!
Nice! Need him to get hot and claim his spot! Being the top prospect that he is, if he explodes over the next week or so, Drury will come back to utility role. I do not see Torres being ready to at least midseason. Interesting that the person who got him in the draft dropped him out of necessity last week. Betting someone will pick him up this week to stash. I cannot afford to do that with the way my roster is set. Really need to hold Mejia for a bit, as he does qualify as C, even though Cleveland looks like they are going to put him at 1B, DH, OF for this year. Having a potential stud C to plug in in case Sanchez or Contreras are hurt would be very nice.
Torres KO's 3 times in 4 AB's yesterday. Remember that he lost valuable developmental time last year and then had a shaky spring. Odds are without an emergency, they wait on him until absolutely no other choice, Torres is needed, or he forces his way.
Heard Drury is dealing with Migraines? Not sure how much good that does me with Andujar, as I am already overloaded at 3B and was hoping he would get some 1B and DH time for flexibility. That said, I may be very tempted to play him for Frazier next week, as old Todd is getting off to a crawling start. Maybe just maybe he goes on a tear while Drury is out and makes 3B his for good?
Didi better not have hurt himself! Should have gone in spikes high o the pitcher!
Within 30 minutes of the end of the game, there will be at least some type of update on rotoworld.
Have they updated on the broadcast? Nothing on my stats/news services. That said, nothing there about Drury either yet, but they are saying CC is having MRI tmrw.
I flipped on MLB Network during Blackhawks commercial break and could not tell why they were there?
What do they think is wrong with Chapman????
42 Points and counting for me this week from him! Any player that hits 30 has had a very good week, so at 42 with weekend to go, that is huge!
Thanks for the heads up. Yes, Drury going down would change the equation for me. I do not want to drop either Jimenez or Meija, so Andujar would be my only choice to get another player. That said, if he is staying up for Drury, could not make that move.
Andujar is going hitless again tonight? Thinking I may have to drop him if he does not get scorching hot this weekend? Hicks back next week and by the next time a call up is needed, if Torres is raking, it is most likely going to be him. Looking like I need to drop someone, so I can bench Happ until Uncle Joe and his boy crush on Zobrist settles down, so Happ can get regular PT and break out of his funk.
And he was thought of as possibly a bust before a huge breakout year last year???? Have to wonder if these were part of the reason he had such a big year last year?
LOL! I was just grumbling to a friend about no White Sox tonight. Really screwed up early season schedule!
18,78,22 Please(Chance I may change before Sunday, but with Greek Easter this weekend, wanted to make sure I had picks in just in case I get too busy with family and forget!)
But Miami sure gave the Cubbies one heck of a rough time!
Matt Davidson is turning into an outright monster. He just drove the ball off the deep Right Center Wall in 30 degree temps and a 25MPH+ wind blowing directly in his face!
Well, my SP's other than Paxton were all cheapies. Spent my money elsewhere, as with enough attention, good staffs can be put together over course of the year. Would be easier to handle if Kenley were not looking so awful and potentially injured!!!! Good news is, I do have Ohtani and if he puts up one more start like the first, will be a weekly play.
Really disappointed after such a good first start!
Felix looking like Bad Felix, rather than King Felix tonight. I need Haniger to hit a couple long balls to catch back up now!
King Felix being back to his old self would be huge for the Mariners! I still cannot believe I got him as a later round cheapie in my Auction League. Maybe being in Chicago, we give Seattle no respect? Also got Haniger for $1, but had to pay for Paxton.
This is why I hate starting baseball so early! Too many postponements! Somehow I am holding a slim lead this week, but with Detroit V KC being postponed, I have not lost 9 player games this week vs. 2 for my opponent.
The one thing the author misses on is Hahn was wanting to do a full rebuild all the way back in 2014, but Kenny and Jerry wanted to keep going for it with FA's and trades. It took that Shields trade for Hahn to finally get his way. That said, they may have a chance to get so good, so fast because they waiting. If they had moved earlier, they would not have had the value contracts of Sale, Eaton and Quintana to get that huge fast influx of talent.
Now this year, they are actually bordering on being able to contend for the WC if things break right, but Sox fans have to hope that does not come to fruition. They have a chance for one more big influx of talent at the deadline this year. Wellington Castillo being a good defensive C that can rake at the plate is a huge chip as there are always contenders with weak catching. Nate Jones if his arm is healthy and he proves it could bring in another big haul. The rest of the BP arms can bring in decent prospects as Hahn proved last year and you never know which ones are going to break out. Then possibly Avi if Jimenez is ready for the bigs by the deadline.
They already have an extremely deep farm system in both position players and arms and will get deeper with a draft where they have a high pick. If they can further line the system with one more influx at the deadline this year, they could set themselves up for outright years of contention. No WS guaranteed, but they will be in the hunt for a decade, which would be fun!
That is just nuts! How in the world does that happen, especially during a game where they are winning going away?
Did I just hear correctly? They were just saying during the White Sox game that Yankees Fans were booing Stanton late in the game today?????
He is Mr. Clutch! 27 Points for me today! That is more than 50% of the players will get this entire week!
All a matter of time for him.
Sanchez needs to get his butt in gear darn it!
Oh how happy I am that I kept him for $10! Some of the so called experts were calling last year an aberration, but that swing is still there! Almost kept DeJong instead of him, but his all around batting and speed are far better!
Very true!
DiDi raking today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back when I was much younger, went to a couple of opening days, one Sox and one Cubs. I have had the experience and do not need to go again. Chicago is no place for baseball 99% of the time this time of year, so would prefer to watch in the bar, or at home.
Yep!
MLB Network just said 4:15 EST???? Looks like they will play in the drizzle?
LOL! Sounds like Frazier may be getting over the concussion issues, but surely will be at least a month before he can even be considered, as he missed most of Spring Training. Wondering if Andujar is going to get a lot of PT and a chance to prove himself before Hicks comes back. Sure would like to see him get a game or two at 1B for when Austin comes back to Earth.
By the way, are they going to be able to get the game in tonight?
Looks like Ellsbury is shut down again. Hicks to hit off a tee today or tomorrow. Hope he makes it back soon! Joe Maddon is ruining Happ's confidence once again this year, so need to get him on my bench next week, instead of starting. Cubs should do him a favor and trade him to a team that will play him every day.
ARGH! Saw news Correa out with a sore big toe. Not sure if it is a big deal yet or not. Really hope last season's misery for my team is not starting again! Already lost Hicks to the DL.
If the Pirates pitching holds up, they are going to be a tough team to face this year!
Exactly! Actually, what surprises me the most is that players who see the extreme shift on just about every AB do not bunt or check swing it down the 3B line every time. Sure, it may bring your power numbers down a little, but after you do this a few times, teams are going to be a lot less willing to do the extreme shift to just let you on base.
