Looks like the White Sox now need to install booster seats in all of their organizations' locker rooms!
WOW! That said, has to be hard for MLB, as there have been a ton of postponements this year.
More games for me later in the season! This week was a total loss anyway. Agonizing over moves right now, as not sure if I want to drop anyone for what is available and what I will be able to get at the bottom of waiver priority. The surprise Super 2 Callups should start happening later next week and early the following, so losing one more game next week before getting back going full steam may not be a bad thing, as I will move up the waive list.
And he was right back to raking. Looks like there is no game today.
Really, Bruce hurt now? Wow! Crazy week. Betts just went on the DL, Hoskins freak broken jaw, Reyes and Kershaw get hurt in first starts back, Donaldson on DL.... I know I am missing a few more here!
Saw that. That ship has sailed for me though, as someone grabbed him last week. I went with picking up A. Reyes instead. Until he strained his lat, that was going to be the better move. Now, think I have to drop him this week and with Hoskins on the DL, go on the hunt for someone. Leaning towards Guzman from TX, as he looks like he is getting close to breaking out and has true monster potential. Nimmo is probably going to cool off and scale back a bit then when Cespedes is back, but if Mets go into rebuild, he will get his FT chance.
Wonder why none of the news svcs talked about that? Also, WTF is Gurriel doing? I might expect a brain fart like that from his younger brother, but he should know better. The play was right in front of him!
4,78,12 Please
No mention of him hurting on any of the news services.
OK, putting my HEX on the Yankees! Idiots playing Walker over Andujar for 2nd straight game, so they deserve the black cat treatment! May they have the worst of luck tonight! :>
Anyone with knowledge on St. Louis here? Trying to decide whether I stash Reyes, or let him go. Gut is telling me the Cards will baby him after this lat strain and he may not be back up for a couple of months and may not be brought back up as a SP. Would love to put him back on the bench to stash, but with a couple of prospects already stashed, Osuna in MLB Limbo and now Hoskins and Davidson on the DL, I may not have that luxury.
I am proud to say that I have not watched a single NBA Playoff game! The way the league is set up, it is a waste of time to watch. When you knew during training camp that barring some sort of miracle, these two teams would be facing each other in the finals, the league is sham. I used to complain about the NHL Hard Salary Cap, as it forced my Blackhawks to lose so many good players over the years, but have a new found appreciation for it now. At the very least, it gives just about every team in the playoffs a chance to go for the Cup, which makes for great entertainment.
Not part of the plans, but rather use him in order to let Alonso keep developing in the minors and not lose a year of service time. Of course, assuming Flores comes back healthy, maybe see what he could do with the every day 1B role for the rest of this year, rather than giving Smith a shot, but you may also end up wanting to give him a shot at 3B. That said, remember that if the Mets go full tilt rebuild, Gonzalez, Bruce, Frazier and Cabrera most likely all go for prospects, so there will be multiple openings. Still, you do not want Alonso up and wasting a year of control. For now, let the young OF's and Rosario develop in the bigs.
Alonso is really looking like he could be a future contributor. That said, even if NYM go to full rebuild this year, I do not think you see him up in the bigs. In a rebuild, you would want them to wait until Super 2 next year. In the meantime, let D. Smith sink or swim at the MLB level, while Alonso keeps developing, probably at AAA once Smith is up.
IS Rosario starting to figure it out? Looks like he has been pretty consistent as of late. Even though I have Didi and Correa at SS, actually considering picking him up.
True, but DeGrom is clearly a better pitcher and still has two years of team control, albeit Arbitration Years, which means higher salary than Jose. Clearly DeGrom would most likely bring in more than Jose did.
As I said, Jose would not be the same value as DeGrom, but that would mean more high end younger prospects, not MLB ready ones. Also, keep in mind that usually the "MLB Ready" prospects that go in trades end up not having the same high end potential of some of the younger ones and also tend to limit the total return on overall prospects.
Anyway, let's say the Mets made that trade last year with the Cubs instead of the Sox. IN that case, DeGrom probably would have also brought Candalario and probably a young high end arm from A Ball.
Yes, Torres was 1-2 years away from the MLB at the time of that trade, exactly what I have been saying. It is rare for a contender to give up even one prospect that is considered ready to help that year, let along multiples. You are usually going deeper into the system, getting younger prospects with high ceilings in multiples.
Heck, just look at the Chris Sale trade last year. This was not an in season trade, but I also look at Sale as just as valuable as DeGrom. The White Sox got Moncada back who was not quite ready for the MLB and is still learning now. They also got huge ceiling arm in Kopech that was a minimum 1-2 years away and very high ceiling OF is Basabe that was a minimum 2-3 years away and potential high ceiling pitcher V. Diaz that has not pitched this year due to arm issues.
How about during the season? Quintana to the Cubs last year is a pretty fair comparison. DeGrom may have a little more value, but on the other hand, Jose being a stud LHP increases his value a bit. Nonetheless.... Eloy Jimenez and OF with Monster potential that was a minimum of a year away, D. Cease, young very high ceiling pitcher at least 2 years away and probably 3, Matt Rose a big young 1B with a big bat, but needing lots of work, yet if he gets it, could be a monster and Bryan Flete whom at best is a future UT IF. On this one, if Eloy and Cease come anywhere close to their potential, then the Sox had a very successful trade and if they exceed and/or Rose develops, it becomes a huge win for them.
Well, that is how rebuilds are done. The hope is that Shef becomes a very good MLB Pitcher quickly and that at least a couple of the younger prospects reach their perceived potential. At this point, that is what you want if your Mets go into full rebuild, as you load the system for hopefully years of progressing players and also hoping that some of the youngest prospects progress to be big parts of deals 2-3 years down the road to get pieces for a playoff run.
You Mets have the pieces to start a very nice rebuild if they choose to go that way, but I do not know enough about your GM to know if you can trust him to find the right talent?
Sheff should be the key to the trade, then multiple lower level high ceiling prospects. I just do not see the Yanks giving up either Andujar or Frazier seeing they are both looked at as potential keys to their year. Just remember a contender is usually not going send more than one MLB ready prospect in most cases. Most will be at least a year away. Getting Sheff would be a big get along with multiple lower level high ceiling prospects. I would say the Dodgers may be a better destination for higher level prospects, but do not see them trading for a pitcher until Machado has been traded, as they have to be working behind the scenes to get him to replace the injured Seager.
I think the Mets would have to go with Drury and Shef, then 2-3 lower level prospects with high ceiling potential. I guess if Familia is part of it, Clint Frazier may need to be part of the deal, but on the other hand, I just do not see the Yankees parting with him unless they absolutely have too. More likely to go for just DeGrom, then try to use lower level prospects for other good BP arms. Frazier is too much of a key insurance piece in case any of their OF's go down.
I feel your pain! Back before my White Sox finally went into rebuild mode, we had the worst manager in the MLB with Robin Ventura and Kenny and Jerry refused to fire him. Actually, with a good manager, may have made the playoffs once or twice over those last few years heading into the rebuild. Now, even though my Sox are losing, there is hope and we also have a Manager that demands hard play from his players and rewards those playing well.
ARGH! Sure enough the team I am playing picked up Nimmo this week and in the 2nd round to boot. I may end up regretting not grabbing him, but just do not trust what will happen once Cespedes is back.
Well, the NHL did the expansion draft right too. They made sure with the set up that that Vegas would get quality talent to be competitive ASAP. DO not think they expected them to be this competitive, but a big part of that was Fleury wanting to go to Vegas, which gave them a top flight experienced goaltender from day one.
Really, could care less about the NBA the way it is currently set up. Something has to be done with the was they do the Cap. I often complain about my Blackhawks having to lose so many good players due to hockey's hard cap, but in the end, I prefer the hockey set up much more than NBA! There is actual excitement in the playoffs!
WOW! Shore with the huge day! Congrats!
Good thing, as 78 going straight back now.
Would be in the Top 2 right now if he could make a proper pitstop!!!!
Hopefully enough cars to get the 2 to 1st place! LOL!
12 be on fire!
Yeah, but now another pitstop!!!!!
Truex pit stops are killing me!!!
Yep, plenty of racing to go and still sure to get more points than Harvick did!
I may tank this coming week anyway. Not exactly tank it, but possibly be forced to put Ohtani in at DH. Only player I am really considering dropping at this point is Osuna, but scared to do that. I would hate to drop him then find MLB allowing him to come back right away. Prefer to get some clarity there first. Ohtani should still get at least in the 10's for scoring, so give me a fighting chance and if I lose a week or two here, it will give me a chance to get one of the surprise Super 2 Callups that always happen.
Yep! At least he is not in the garage like Harvick!!!! Although, could very well have put himself there with those tires!
Nice! Brad needed a pit stop to have a chance at the Top 10 for this segment and Harvick delivered for me!
Just when I was ready to pick up Nimmo, I see he was sitting today in favor of Bautista???? Once Cespedes comes back, they will probably bury him again.
First time watching Pomeranz this season. He is looking awful! Hope you have pitchers ready to move up.
He has to show something first. He has not looked very good this year at all.
