Disappointed in this stock? Nah - just discouraged as a shareholder since 2015 who lost a cousin to this scourge.
By this time, I would have thought we would have been seeing more volume and some accumulating. (I get a kick out of the chartist/TA guys saying how bullish the chart is. Meh - don't think so - not enough volume). By the way, wasn't one of the reasons for the appointment of Mr. Innes was to harpoon some whales? If so, he has failed miserably in that department notwithstanding Mr. Bigger. I do believe Mr. Innes would have made a terrific politician. And ol' LG? Let me just say, I have doubts about his forthrightness given his breathless pronouncements back in 2015.
Anyone remember when some posters here were actually happy they went to the OTC?! Recall some of them said, no more shorting! Oh my goodness.
I don't think Ms Powers gives one twit about her retail shareholders although they are the ones that have kept this thing afloat imo. To her, there are merely means to an end. Kind of obvious to me anyway.
You know how the executives could have helped things? By buying their own stock on the open market with their own money instead of handing out shares like candy to themselves - they really don't have any skin in the game, you know. Yeah, yeah, I know - they've lent money to the company. Uh-huh. Lenders get first dibs when an enterprise fails. When she said big pharma only brings a checkbook, I just shook my head. No, Ms Powers, they would have gotten this tech to the marketplace much faster with a lot less dilution, imo. Also why doesn't she at least take off-the-cuff tough questions at the ASM from her shareholders?
To this untrained eye it sure appears this will eventually...eventually...get approved by the Brits. The JAMA report sealed it for me although nothing, absolutely nothing is a sure thing in this world except for the proverbials. So I wait some more. (I'll be happy with a 2 to 3 share price. Will I sell if and when it hits my target? Depends on the volume/price and any momentum).
Is this stock manipulated? Oh, I dunno but I sort of doubt it. So what does the MM do when there are no buyers and volume? Why, like any other business, they lower the price of their product to move it out of inventory. Ah, capitalism - what a concept - when it's ethical. They used to teach Ethics at our top business schools, you know. Now? Not required).
Having said all this, do I think the market is fair? Nope. At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy nut, there is just too much money and influence from the puppet masters. All you have to do is take a look at the trades of some of our politicos. Amazing picks and timing.
On another note, I really don't believe they are going to get bought out - they are going to go it alone. As I opined earlier there just ain't enough volume especially at this juncture. I mean, here we are: Phase III? Done. Manufacturing in place? Yes. JAMA article? Yep. Buyers, finally? Nope. I am prepared for more dilution.
Some of the valuations I see for this company being bandied about are fascinating. I just don't see it but I will admit (sincerely), I am not as smart as some of those bulls making the case. So, I hope they are right but somehow I doubt those valuations even assuming approval.
I just hope NW's tech stands on its own merits and does not get "diverted" by the influence. But nothing will surprise me given the environment.
This lawsuit? This too will not surprise me if it is only a wrist slap which I suspect will be the case. Yeah, I'm pretty jaded.
I would like to take this opportunity and give a shout out to this board's "flipper". Back in the Mesozoic Era he would parry and thrust with the naysayers on this board with logic and fact. The company should do something nice for him.
Good luck to the true longtime longs here. Btw, whatever happened to "RKMatters"?
Poor Man – your wife and my wife should…
…form a tag team. Anyway, I do seek out your posts (along with flipper’s) as your business acumen is manifest.
But I think I am now going to disagree with you and change my view as to whether a BO or JV is forthcoming. Frankly, I don’t think we will see either for quite some time (2 years?- merely a guess). IMO, Ms. Powers is going to continue in her same mode. There will be dilution galore unfortunately (and then a reverse stock split?). The fact that there is no volume whatsoever is speaking volumes to me. Again, just my opinion.
I own just shy of 100k shares and I’ve owned them since 2015. Bad move, I know. But, I’m not going to sell as fortunately I can afford to lose it. I am going to ride this thing until nirvana or the bitter end.
And, with regards to Mr. G…ah, I guess I’ll just leave it that back in 2015 he may have been a little too excited (fake or genuine?) when talking to me.
And just a WAG – would not surprise me if we some type of “collaboration” with Optune
Well, Poorman, while you may escape the confines...
...of the park bench, I'm still in the doghouse as my beautiful wife is begging me to sell. I've told her we have waited this long, what's several days for goodness sakes?
It sure looks like this is going to be the real deal. Last spring I really thought that a buyout was imminent, then I got off that horse and now I'm back on it. Just gotta be a buyout and you and Mav have had some pertinent posts in that regard as far as I'm concerned.
I would like to buy some more here but I guarantee you my wife would look for something to fully discourage me from doing so. But, I wait for the data and if they are good and/or buyout announced I will buy more and take my chances with my goddess.
Very, very, interesting, flipper.
Thank you for posting.
While I have not been completely bullish as to how the FDA might look at this therapy, I now fully believe the tech will be approved eventually.
Poor Man & Mav0408, I'm right there with you guys...
However, I am now not sure about a buy-out (or even a JV) at this time. I cannot articulate it, it's just an attitude of mine based on the stock price and volume. There is virtually no buying. Is this under accumulation? Doesn't appear to be at this time for me -- just some algos shaving with the decimals.
I really thought that there would be some momentum in this quarter but I was and am again wrong.
I know there are folks here that are a heckuva a lot smarter than I am that think this thing is a slam-dunk in terms of a "go" from the FDA, but I am becoming discouraged. I have been in this stock since early 2015 and if I relayed some conversations that I had with the comany back then you would think I had those conversations wrong and I probably do since, stupid me, I did not take notes. I was probably a little too excited about what I was obviously mistakenly hearing. Were they being disingenuous? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
I don't come to this board often but when I do I look out for posts from you, Mav0408, Lykiri, flip and several others but wanted to let you know, Poor Man, that I appreciate your posts and your humor. You would be a delight, I'm sure, at one of my bbq parties that I throw for friends. Some of your posts I actually laugh out loud, not lol.
Negative posts don't bother me as they do some others here -- they just might have a point. I'm all for open discussions and different points of view.
Poor Man, no need to answer, but how much longer are you going to give this? I am actually going to give this until the end of '22 unless circumstances tell me to bail or start buying again with both hands. Ugh. You can be sure, though, I will be enduring the continued rolling of the eyes from my beautiful wife.
Stay tuned? Petal to the Metal? Acceleration? Fife? Well, I guess LP ain't got too many choices.
Best to all Longs here.
Ka-moan Volume, kick in...
Sustain it. Don't give me another head fake.
Wanna see volume so Poor Man can improve his diet and nutrition.
Agree with you BB (and PM)...
I was faked out about something manifesting this past May or June. With the trading leading up to May, I really thought something was afoot. Wrong again. (The market itself probably thought so too).
Anyway, this ain't going anywhere until volume starts kicking in and its sustained or until the long, long awaited news finally arrives to the public. It'll be interesting to me to see how close to the vest this trial and its results will be (have been?) leading up to that day we are waiting for.
I know there are longs here that are already counting their money and I certainly hope they are right but for me there are only two certain things.
If the data are unequivocally good, I still think (and want) a buyout. Or, if a JV, it will also be interesting to see how they structure it.
Sorry tryin for my late reply. (I day-trade for a living).
The 10-day moving avg are similar between the two. Simply that.
I may be reaching here since I still think there will be a buy-out.
My last post I meant the 5-min chart not the 2-min. Sheesh.
Anyway, trading still looks good. We will find out if the trading is in anticipation of what may (or may not be said tomorrow).
Anybody notice the interesting trading going on with MRK?
Trading today looks very constructive.
the daily chart looks good, the 2-min chart looks good and the 1-minute chart looks good. Hope this trend continues.
What was interesting to me when it hilt 2 bucks there was about 94k at the Ask. Someone just snapped that up with one trade.
Many thanks to you muee88, flipper and VikingInvest for your reply to my question regarding a pr for the patent.
It was very much appreciated.
Will I finally be invested in a biotech that will strike a mighty blow against this awful disease?
Many thanks muee88 for that patent...
...post. Huge news. Am I overstating this? I don't think so.
What I don't understand is why doesn't the company bother to pr this excellent patent news?
Biotech's that get a patent allowance broadcast it to the world from my experience.
Maybe someone on this message board will explain this to me?
Well, that's essentially the way I see it although your articulation is far better than what I could come up with -- your wittiness is also enjoyed by me.
The one caveat for me however is some of the longs have averaged down and I would gather are very much in the green on their statements and screens. So, I do wonder how "long" they would continue to wait?
Otra vez, muchas gracias.
Bright Boy y Poor Man, would like your opinion, por favor...
...and to speculate on this hypothetical situation:
The company does not provide meaningful, unequivocal bullish news in May nor in the first two weeks in June (but curiously --- for me anyway -- there is still no publication nor top line during this upcoming time frame. I'm wondering if there are bullish expectations from the market during this time frame).
What happens to the stock price?
If there is no publication nor top line during this time frame, does the price essentially continue to go sideways?
I guess I am asking just how important is the market putting on the release of the data in the next few weeks?
I know I’m asking for you to peer into your crystal ball, but I’d appreciate your speculation.
Well, doggone it. I really thought...
...the stock was going to trade relatively big this week based on last week's trading, especially considering Friday's buying. I'm wrong again. And as per usual, no volume, no buyers.
I've been in this stock since March of 2015.
I continue to believe there is something in the works and I'm leaning towards a buy-out.
But, if we blow through May without any significant, positive news my discouragement will go deeper.
In any event, my family and I have our health.
Have a nice weekend, folks.
Decided to come to the board tonight...
...to see if you and/or Poor Man had any more discussion about the possibility of a buy-out.
And dang! I come across this from you:
***If you want fairness, then demand a "flat" tax, but of course that would put half the lawyers and accountants out of business and that's never going to happen because currently, there are 400 lawyers among our elected officials!!!***
Amen, Brother Bright Boy, Amen!!!
I don't care whether a person is rich. Good for him/her but if rich, please, dispense with the hypocrisy. And be ethical.
Best to you and the Poor Man. (I did a genuine LOL when I read the Poor Man's rubbing elbows with the rich post).
Bright Boy, Poor Man – I would like your...
...thoughts on a price on a possible (probable?) buy-out.
I am not on this board a lot but there are certain posters I take note of. I've read what I consider to be some wild take over prices, but I think you guys have your feet planted firmly on this planet, if I'm not mistaken.
From each of your posts it appears that you two think that there will be an eventual buy-out. I think I’m reading you correctly. I believe too there will be a buy-out but I read somewhere on this board that the company hired a gal from Canada for marketing/regulatory work? That threw a wrench in my thinking about a buy-out although I do not see any PR from the company on any new hire. Why would they not put out PR or update their website on a hire like that? But I digress.
Assuming there is to be a buy-out, what number do you come up with? (Please, you don’t have to explain your number, I'm just curious what you two think would be a fair price. After all these years of holding on to this stock, I would be quite happy with 5-6). Although Ms. Powers is a dynamo, I don’t think she can get this tech to market in a timely manner without destroying shareholder value. (I could very well be wrong about all this and I am wrong a lot as I’ve been wrong about this investment for quite some time). I apologize profusely if you have already provided a number on this board.
I look forward to watching the trading of this stock this week. Friday’s trading was notable, it appeared to me. My finger is on the buy trigger if this stock meets some of my indicators notwithstanding my admonishment to myself not to buy any more without unequivocal top line. Would not surprise me to see a spike at the opening and then the selling. (I do not day trade this stock although Friday would have been a good scalp).
Thank you, gentlemen.
a shake-out this past week?
Some interesting buys today.
Some good news from the company finally coming? Would be nice.
Sounds logical, but where will the institutional support come from??
BB, have read your posts from about the last two weeks and I am in agreement with those posts. Basically been thinking the same thing but you can say it much more elegantly than I ever could. (You are or have worked on Wall St?)
Assuming DC-VAX is the real deal, I ask myself would a partnership work? I think there are negative variables with that. I don't think they can go it alone without destroying shareholder value.
Ms. Powers is brilliant but I really don't know what to make of her attitude towards her long-time (and defending) shareholders. Also, I think the market perceives her carrying too much baggage - just an opinion.
I'd like to ask this question of you, BB: does it bother you that the insiders have not opened up their purses and wallets to buy the stock in the open market? I realize they have loaned money but the loans have been sweet deals notwithstanding creditors get first dibs.
My fingers are still crossed. Waiting on the data just like the market is.
(Have also enjoyed reading Poor Man's posts. They are quite funny and intelligent. Not sure I'd agree on the spending bill though. Way too much pork.)
Anybody read the article within...
the current issue of Barron's (3/29/21) titled "Drug Investors Are Worried Over Signs of Tougher Line Being Taken in Washington", subtitled, "The FDA appears to set roadblocks to drug approvals, while the FTC says it will be stricter on mergers. The stocks may be riskier as a result". (?)
A bit of a surprise to me reading the article. I truly hope this company has the goods and FDA gives its nod of approval.
Anyway, Bright Boy, have to agree with your recent posts. I would like to see a buy-out.
Soj, many thanks to your reply to my post to you. It was appreciated.
(Back to my trading. This market is making me nervous -- hope it is unwarranted).
Soj – do you consider...
...Friday’s trading a “breakout”? If so, if you were a day trader would you buy based on Friday’s trading?
I’m wrong about half of the time with my trades so I am probably wrong about Friday’s trading but I don’t think it's breaking out. Now, the last time I posted here I really thought it was indeed going to breakout but in keeping with my percentages I was wrong. I hope I am wrong again here.
I think we need volume such as last October’s.
I’d like to get your perspective as I always want to learn other chartists/T/A’s views.
In any event, I did see some interesting buy blocks on Friday. This week will be interesting if only to see if those buy blocks are foretelling.
Imvho, I really think the chart is simply telling us a line has been drawn in the sand. This will go either way.
I don’t come to this board very much but I do take note of your posts along with a few others. Lots of educated folks here.
I won't be posting again for a while but thanks in advance if you do reply to (or even read) my question to you.
Is anybody’s pulse starting…
…to quicken?
I am starting to think we may indeed be getting closer to Topline. Volume is starting to creep up. Some accumulation going on? Volume before the price rise?
I dunno know if these are the penny guys buying in sympathy with what has been going on in penny-land with respect to biotech’s. I’m sure of some scalping though. Have you taken a look at IBB or NBI? It’s crazy nice. Sure wish some reddit guys would turn their attention to this stock. There are penny biotech’s that have been rocketing up. Long-term trend for this stock however is up and still above the averages (take your pick). Thank goodness for the Lappin effect, no?
It’s perplexing that this stock is basically stuck at PIII, getting ready to ostensibly release TLD and a publication. What’s the dang deal with that? Too much stock floating around? Market still doesn’t believe the tech and/or are concerned about the execs? It’s not followed by the Street. I find it odd. An enigmatic stock altogether. However, LP is brilliant in my view.
Not sure I understand this self-imposed quiet period either. Maybe I will someday.
In utilizing the way-back machine, I can’t help but recall just how, ahem, enthusiastic LG was in my two conversations with him. Were retail types being played? Perhaps, but it’s my own fault for not selling quickly to cut my losses.
I don’t frequent this board but I’m sure some of you Longs bit the bullet and did buy to average, so you are probably well above the surface. Good for you! Me? No, I have not averaged down. Still waiting for TLD and if the data are unequivocal where the FDA has no choice, then I start buying again with both hands. Yes, my roots are Missourian.
Oh, how I want this tech to be the real deal. For me though, nothing is for sure except the two proverbial[s].
A sincere good luck to all you Longs still holding after all these years. Let’s hope we are rewarded coupled with patients having access to this (what appears to be promising) tech
While I am not sure of the worth…
...of charting/TA for penny stocks, I do think it may have some usefulness at this juncture for this stock.
I note the stock has been moving along and bouncing off the 20-day line since late October. I’m hoping (what a concept for investing) this holds. If not, well, perhaps the convinced longs can once again pull out their wallets? I won’t start buying again until I see unequivocal, positive top line data.
If no clearly positive news in December this will drop down to the 80 cent range, imvho. If no clearly positive news in January, back down into the 30 cent range, imvho.
Here is a biotech that is ostensibly at the end of their Phase III trial...
...and they are ready to go into data lock (soft/hard).
Yet, here we are sitting at 36 cents a share. 36 cents! Shorts? (Shorters tend to be good traders and they have already done their thing and have moved on). Manipulation by those evil MM's? Neither. No one is buying. This company is not even worth the pimple on, say, Bill Gates' backside. Was anybody complaining about the MM's when the price of the stock went from 14 cents (geez, 14 cents) to the current price?
T/A is worthless here too because Mr. Market is simply waiting on a binary event - TLD. If TLD are unequivocally good, the stock price will go up. If not, the company is finished. End of story. (Data lock will not have any long term effect on the stock price, imvho).
How many more pipe financing's are we going to endure before TLD? (The market sees this too, you know). Two? Three?
Dr Duffy left. Why can't we believe David Innes when he indicated he simply left because he got a good offer and that Merck just wanted him back? If that is not the case and he was doing his dd for buyout (which I don't believe for a moment), then Mr. Innes could have come up with a "better" answer.
When I first bought this stock the company was quite loquacious. I mean every other day it seems ol' Les kept telling us to "stay tuned!". After I had a couple of conversations with him many years ago he always finished our conversation with "stay tuned!". Why did the PR's stop? We sort of know why now. Why haven't the insiders actually opened up their own wallets and bought on the open market? I would argue if they had done that we would not be sitting at 36 cents a share and the financing's would have been less onerous.
Look, Ms. Powers has an off the charts IQ but has she been good for shareholders? I would say "no". Somehow I get the impression she views us contemptuously.
If someone were to ask me if they should buy this stock I would reply with an emphatic "no" but would hedge with "only if you can lose the money". I would suggest they wait for TLD and then buy if the data are good.
Very much against my own rules for investing and my judgement I bought more when the stock was heading south. This was absolutely foolish. The market was telling me: hey, things don't look so good with this stock and yet I bought. Stupid me. Yeah, yeah, I know -- it's the wolfpack. Nonsense. But, if an investor thinks it's the work of the wolfpack or shorts or mm's or whatever other nefarious forces are out there to bring down this biotech and it makes one feel better I can understand the need for that type of thinking.
Btw, what does Cofer Black bring to this biotech's table?
Thank you, DocLee, for your response...
...to my question.
I read this piece perhaps a couple of years ago and of course they being lawyers do not give a definitive answer. There are a lot of "should" and no "must".
https://www.arnoldporter.com/en/perspectives/publications/2016/05/biotech-cos-face-pressure-to-disclose
Reading something like that is why I went into computer science instead of law. I like 1 or 0, true or false.
Yes, I have a weak mind.
Another thing I will do in the future is never invest in a company that is run by lawyers. Ha!
I do know this: the company cannot divulge material information at the ASM. They must do so prior to if indeed there is material information.
I am hoping (what a concept for investing) we hear something material ("interesting") this week but somehow I doubt it. The ASM might be "interesting" to the executives but maybe not for long suffering shareholders. And I use the term "suffering" advisedly. I am fortunate I am not a patient.
Happy Easter to all who believe.
Thanks for your reply, biosect.
Yes, I do not go to message boards for investment advice. I am from the Wm O'Neil/IBD playbook which I have modified for my own purposes. I am a price and volume guy. But, anybody that uses a chart for a penny stock that is sitting on a binary event is kidding themselves. This is a binary event upcoming although I am not sure the company has to divulge to the investment world if the trial has failed. I am unclear on that and I do not want to ask my guy that got me into this that question. I invested in this for several reasons that I will not go into and a long time ago. Ordinarily, I use stops but I did not do this with this stock much to my dismay. Emotion (cancer & UCLA) and greed (stupidly) are my reasons for not doing so.
I came to this message board to see if there would be any hard evidence (messages from a lot cancer patients) and other posts that might allow for optimism. I am not convinced about the scientific paper that came out signed by some researchers as I do believe the company paid for it. To me, this is suspect. Money talks and researchers are not immune (no pun intended) to dollars, imo.
Anyway, I agree with your post to my question but I must say if LP did use the term "homerun" that would put her in a problematic corner I should think. I don't listen much to CEO's quarterly Q&A's with bankers but I have never heard the term "homerun" used. But then again, as I said, I don't listen much to those Q&A's. But since Mr. Innes never replied to my guy, I do think it was a pumping on this board. My thinking she probably never said it.
Biosect, let me ask you a question of you if you don't mind as honestly I am too lazy to look for myself. Does the company have to divulge to the investing public if the PIII failed?
Thanks in advance.
Question, please, for someone who...
...was at a particular ASM...
But first, a comment or two. I was wrong in my one and only post here thinking that Dr Duffy was going to take over. I thought that was going to be the "interesting" news.
Unlike some others on this board his leaving has definitely given me yet another reason to wonder negatively about my investment.
In just reading this board today it seems ol' Chris L has given up on this stock. I had/have an enormous amount of respect for him and I probably still do. Unlike me, he has/had his name plastered all over this investment and out there on the web. He was pumping it hard and even arguing with AF. BUT, I have to believe he was being given winks and nods by the executives and thus his pumping. (I hope I am wrong in this assessment).
I have been invested in this stock for a very long time. An acquaintance of mine who is a very good biotech investor got me into this. He thinks I am mad at him but I am not. I could have sold a long, long time ago.
My acquaintance has not sold, he said he is now looking at it simply as a lottery ticket. Too many incongruous past statements from the executives, he said to me to which I certainly concur.
Indeed this investor has told me that he has written Mr. Innes asking him to confirm or corroborate that LP did in fact use the term "homerun" in a previous ASM. He told me after several attempts in attempting to get an answer from him, the answer to the question never came.
Now, my question to the board...was it ever confirmed that LP actually used the term "homerun" re: PIII?
(I wish Doclogic was at that ASM and he could be the one to confirm. For a particular reason, I trust him. Happy Easter to you, Doclogic).
(Kam -- I hope this investment works out for you (and me), buddy).
Dr. Jam,
Many thanks for your very encouraging post showing your stat model. I appreciated the work and the post.
Could I prevail upon you to give me your opinion as to what this "interesting" ASM might entail? Are you expecting anything significant? Would like your thoughts.
Thank in advance for any reply.
(Also thanks to the four who responded to my initial, albeit very speculative, post. After all these years invested in this, I hope the executives won't do the Lucy pull the football routine on us very patient long-time investors).
flip, I am a long time holder of this stock. Ordinarily, I don't use message boards (price and volume are my staples) but I came here to see if they was ANYTHING I could hang my hat on because this is/was an emotional investment for me, alas, many years ago which I wont go into.
Regardless, I appreciate very much your posts and I do read ex's. If someone has something intelligent to say even if it gives me yet another reason to pause about my investment, I really don't care. I am all for hearing all sides.
Shorts are long gone. There just really isn't any buyers. The market says this trial has failed. I mean a PIII and less than 20 cents? Goodness gracious. If that ain't telling me something, I don't know what is.
As far as this "interesting" upcoming ASM...allow me to speculate here...I believe there will no info with regards to the trials; what I think will happen is Ms Powers will step aside and Dr Duffy will take over as CEO. Just pure speculation on my part.
He will shop the technology. They obviously can't afford another trial which I also speculate the FDA will want.
I pray, yes pray to God above, I am wrong and and top-line data are terrific.
(As a side note, I read a heartfelt post from "tryn" here a while ago. Just another reason I hope the data are good).
