Update on my father. I submitted your appeal to his local provider. During office visit we described the almost complete resolution of his BP issues since going back on Vascepa last summer, along with the fact that he feels much better. She agreed that he looks better.
She appealed to express scripts. They denied it the first 2 times but finally approved it on the third attempt. Brand name at $75 per month.
Thank you all for your help!!!
Great information!! Thank you!!
Thanks!
Daily dosage on these otc products?
Thank you! Was not aware of this product!!
And 100% agree re flaws in the lipid hypothesis in general. The effect of V on his BP is remarkable and speaks to the many as yet unrecognized benefits of V.
I believe everyone over the age of 60 should be on it as a preventive.
Thank you! I had to press for it during the same visit where she was again pressing him to take a statin. She is now fully aware of V and using it for other patients.
You a are a big help!! Many thanks!!
Thank you for this! You all are awesome!!
Seeking advice on getting my 87 yo father’s scrip for Vascepa covered under Express Scripts. His trigs are perfectly normal but lifelong LDL above 250. Can’t tolerate statins so local doc agreed to put him on V off label as preventive.
He had been on it for a couple years for around $50/month and then in 2022 it increased to $500 per month. Without my knowledge he quit taking it and switched to otc fish oil. His 30 yr dose of benocar for BP suddenly wasn’t enough, routine spikes in BP that led to full cardiology workup. It was then that we discovered he had stopped V. Local doc looked into V early last year and was able to get a temporary supply for $75/m. In his own words, he feels great again and is completely off his BP meds. Received a letter stating that his temporary supply is ending. V is listed as tier 3 and for ST use only. Taking this to his local doc but wondering if anyone else has been down this road w express and off label use.
In vitro results, but this is huge.
Ask your doc about a scrip for Cromolyn as well. You likely have mast cell activation syndrome caused by covid. Headaches caused by excessive histamine release. Also need to consider a histamine free diet for a few weeks.
Mitigate?
I have a chronically ill daughter who contracted covid while immunosuppressed due to IV steroids. Began treatment on day of diagnosis with ivermectin plus Vascepa. Recovered in 3 days and O2 sat never dropped below 98%.
I do believe V is a no brainer as add on early treatment as well as continuing use to prevent/reverse long haul covid symptoms. No idea what PI-2 will actually show.
Legitimate safety concerns about the “vaccines” did not stop their use. I doubt this will alter the timeline of approval, unfortunately.
The Nemechek Protocol, by Dr Patrick Nemechek, used to treat autonomic dysfunction and autism, involves consuming high doses of high quality fish oil and olive oil in order to reset microglial cells to their neutral and/or anti-inflammatory state. It has worked miracles for some, although he is adamant that the process requires both EPA and DHA. Do not know if it has been studied in Alzheimer’s.
Agree completely!
My comment was directed at those who are willing to accept a ridiculously low buyout offer because they believe this is “only” a CVD drug. Vascepa will be as widely used as some vitamins within 10 years.
When was the last single drug sold that had as many possible indications as Vascepa? This is not a one trick drug.
I am optimistic re Vascepa as a covid treatment, but portions of this post are factually inaccurate. All viruses are enclosed in lipid membranes but these are formed inside our cells. Lowering blood lipids in the circulation will not prevent virus membrane formation.
Looks like a possible trig lowering drug. This is not where the action is for Vascepa and CVD prevention.
The magic of Vascepa lies in it’s anti inflammatory properties. Fairly confident trig lowering is just a bystander.
It also, however, defies common sense to think that the encapsulation method devised by Amarin was deemed worthy of patent protection but does not confer a competent advantage.
Imagine how long it would have taken the medical community to embrace penicillin or aspirin if they were easily oxidized and rendered inactive during processing?
It is shocking how many doctors don’t understand oxidation as it pertains to omega-3 fatty acids.
The explosive potential for Vascepa lies in the fact that CV risk reduction was independent of trig levels and is most likely due to Vascepa’s anti-inflammatory action. This is a key aspect that most if not all analysts are missing. The recently expanded label is just the first of many additional indications for this drug. It is indeed overpriced based on projected 2020 revenue, but drastically undervalued based on eventual revenue from multiple indications.
