No such luck on getting a green finish. Chase...retrace. What will be the next motivation for momentum?
OK, so I did not perfectly chart this one to figure out the bottom of the final dip was going to be closer to 0.0054 than 0.0057, but still a nice bounce from there into the weekend. Be nice to see a Monday open higher than today's HOD.
Wait, I thought I was the chump who sold first thing last Monday morning at .003. How many sold-for-drink-money losers were there last week? : - )
Is there any chance I picked a bottom on this one? Or are we done singing the praises of this one just because it is yesterday's news. If we let everyone see another up day, that would sure be nice mo going into weekend.
Well, look on the bright side. At least we are not MJTV. They are tanking twice as bad today percentage-wise.
Of course, half of us are probably in that one, too. (Not regretting selling for root beer money on that one last week.) Feels like maybe the CBD and would-be CBD sector having a little post-420 come down.
After double-checking with Uphold via chat, I am changing my strategy (to what I wish I had done from the beginning, at least whenever $500 bought you less than 1500 XRP). That is, I am going to simply transfer the $500 from bank to Uphold and then buy something else with it later, i.e. XRP or BTC (the latter of which can still get you 10% from CredEarn). Wish I had done that on Day 2 of this experiment, because I could have got all my LBA in one day, rather than two. Heck, wish I had done that on Day 1, as I got less than 1400 XRP that day, but, of course, hindsight is a much better price predictor.
Having said that, I did buy more XRP today. Could not resist getting not only over 1500, but over 1600, but I promise, tomorrow, I start loading USD, and then see how soon I can change those in one fell swoop to (probably) BTC. The price will tell all in good time (a couple of weeks). I figure, since it takes 5 business days for my transfers anyway, I am not shorting myself on XRP for the planned May 1 loan.
In case anyone is wondering,, Uphold uses UTC (FKA Greenwich Mean Time) for their day. So, for daily limit purposes, if their funding day starts at midnight, that would be 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific (during Daylight Time)
Learned that when I tried loading another 1510 XRP yesterday only to learn my purchase late evening Monday was my Tuesday play, which means I missed buying in on Monday. Now, as I am waking up to post-dip prices, I am guessing I should not have been in a hurry to fund today’s DCA last night, : - {
Your wish is the market's command, Gman
Yikes! Before anybody empties their savings account, consider that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. While I am following MS's lead and also planning on making two XRP loans next month, continuing to fund my Uphold account every day until that second loan is funded (approx. May 10), I still consider this a risky venture, and not just with hackers in mind. I am reminded of 2007/2008 when I loaned out money at an interest rate much higher than what I could get from CD's or from chasing interest from money market and savings accounts (skipping from one bank's introductory 6-month rate to the next). Again, that was 2008... and in 2009, I was informed of what happened to my money just in time to include the loss (total) on a special IRS form just for Ponzi schemes and other frauds (or was it just Form 4684? anyway...). As always, only risk what you can afford to lose.
You see, the first interest rate I have to consider is the one on my mortgage. That is the "one to beat." I refinanced in 2013, so it is a beatable 2.375%. I actually have enough savings that I could pay it off 9 years early if I wanted to, but of course, at that low rate, I do not want to. I am already getting an APY slightly above that, but I figure for it to be a true positive arbitrage, when you factor in taxes and the structure of mortgage interest, I would need more than 3.1%, not merely 2.4. But I do not put all my arbitrage eggs in one basket. Some are in and out of blue chips, capturing dividends (and options premiums). Some are in preferred stocks, bought under par of course, where the yield at par is at least 5%. And, once I have my XRP, about $15k will be put at risk with CredEarn, emphasis on the risk. Frankly I had to pause when I saw CredEarn's rate for Federal Reserve Notes, and XAU for that matter. Although...
...having typed all that, I just looked at the CredEarn FAQ and the rates are (still) 10% for BTC, but down to 5% for XRP, and down to 3% for the rest (ETH, USD, Euro, and gold). Well, that is a little disappointing...if a little less too good to be true. Actually, considerably less too good.
PS My new internet crush is CryptoCasey
Oh, I am only using Uphold to loan out XRP twice a month, starting on May 1st, like MS has been doing. My deposits finally started showing up today. As promised, there was a 5-7 business day delay in moving the money, but then boom! I got more than just one day's worth. Not only did the XRP I locked in last Wednesday show up, but 4 more XRP deposits--and my 2 LBA buys.
I know I definitely want another exchange to get other cryptos, like maybe Ethereum or something more obscure. Do you get ETH first, and then exchange that for Verge, Enjin, and any others on the Ethereum platform? I do not know. I looked on BitcoinExchangeGuide to review 60 different candidates. That still leaves picking a wallet app (or two) and a cold storage device.
I sure wish I had put more effort into this in 2012 when I first heard of Bitcoin, but I did not even have a smart phone back then. [Gulp] : - {
Binance seems to be having a Good Friday. Its token (BNB) is up better than most of the penny stocks followed so closely on this site. What is driving the price? Besides the fact G4it mentioned it 5 days ago. : - )
PS I know this is the XRP board, but all others (except those for Bitcoin and PlusOne) seem underutilized. Meanwhile, I was glad to get 1540 XRP the other day with my $500 daily limit; last two days, less than 1500. I wish I could set a limit order with Uphold as the price range (at some point in the 24-hour day) seems to always include a period under 0.33.
PPS Anyone have an opinion about Shapeshift or Changelly or alternates...? While slowly DCA'ing into XRP with Uphold over the course of a month, I have yet to do anything else with exchanges, wallets, etc.
I picked the wrong day to forget to go to Uphold first thing in the morning and load my daily limit.
Looks like I sold at the open high for the day. Only half my position, so I will not mind if it runs from here. If it stays flat for a month, I may get back in after the Wash Sale 30 days clear. (Taxes were relatively simple this year*; no need to complicate them unnecessarily with so many penny tickers available.)
* he said, hoping he put enough postage on that envelope : - )
Thanks for all the alt coin info, G4it. I see I can buy 4 DASH at Uphold per the $500 max per day (as opposed to 3 ETH) at current prices (as of this post), but Uphold does not show me Verge or Enjin (or Tron, even though that is maybe the bubble crypto at 11th place). I suppose I need to set up yet another account, username, password, and additional security protocols to try those alts... with Coinbase?...Kraken?...who else...?
PS I see I am actually up a few cents on my LBA (Cred) purchases (overpaid Wednesday before the Brexit news) and (maybe) got a bargain on Thursday. Down on XRP (and not just on fees), but that is OK; still accumulating over the next two weeks.
Knucklehead who sold at 0.22, you're killing me. If I am reading that volume right, that was just about the right amount to cover my taxes... but I assure you, it was not me selling so cheap. Unload your dang Disney or JP Morgan today, not Big Bucks's for pennies.
Yeah, snag some BBUCQ still in the .40 somethings. Just think, if you took profits from Disney today, all you would need is a loose 10 shares to pick up 3000 of these while they are cheap. Then throw those 3k in Scrooge McDuck's money bin, so you won't be tempted to sell them too soon. Gurus here think this can still double again by next week (if not sooner).
No need to yell, OLK33; not selling low. Not me; I do not need any more tax losses this year (so far).
As for using AON, two weeks ago I got a partial fill on INKW (91607/100000). I think it was the odd 7 that annoyed me and made me think that the All or Nothing box was ideal for pennyland; I have since passed those 7 shares on to somebody else (my apologies), along with 61600 more to actually lock in gains on that ticker. (Needless to say, the AON box was not checked on that sale.) Come to think of it, that is the only one of my now more than a dozen penny stock positions which I have closed (partially)... and as a winner to boot, so maybe I should think of a partial fill as a lucky charm.
Ah, crud, am I going to regret setting my Bid at All or Nothing? ; - )
What was the total volume at 40 cents? A couple thousand at most? To be honest, I would not have minded selling a portion of my stake today at that price, and be playing with house money now.
I do not think you will have any trouble getting crypto cheap for a while. You explained it yourself, and I wish I had thought of it. Looks like Brexit might be closer to Halloween than any time this month or next. And indeed, it may not happen at all. It seems parliament does not really have their hearts in it. They might as well postpone it until the Day of the Dead.
Although...I am reminded of that line that may have not originated with John Cleese, but I believe he has used it: Why is divorce so expensive?
Because it is worth it.
ok, MS, for those who want 10k lba in one day and have a $500 per day limit with Uphold, now is the time. Was a little over 6 cents yesterday, but under 5 cents now, this morning
So now I am an lba speculator, too. Back to accumulating XRP tomorrow.
Saw alert from broker 15 minutes after close: LYFT met low target of $60.00 Dang, when did they start trading options on this turkey? Curses, that was easy money.
OK, doubled my position today after overpaying yesterday (as I figured soon after). This thing now has my permission to run.
Yeah, but I was right about it $MJTV being cheaper today. And not just on an opening dip. Down and staying down so far.
Hate overpaying. Looks I would have been better off buying $ASFZ at market yesterday when it was... 0.0007?
Things to do before opening an Uphold account: Take a picture (headshot) of yourself, and your driver's license (front and back), and (just in case) a picture of yourself holding your DL up to your face. Have those pictures ready on your computer or smart device, whichever you are going to use to initially open the account. If you do not already have a two-factor authenticator app on your phone/device, get one. If you choose Authy, be ready to be asked to set up a Backup password, too (optional, but probably advisable), in case you lose your phone.
You may also want to download a pdf of the latest statement from the bank you have decided to use to fund it if, like me, your funding bank is a smaller one. (Small being not Chase, citi, B of A, or Wells; did I leave any big ones out?)
This is all for the purpose of loaning out your crypto for up to 10%, using CredEarn. Uphold's funding limit per day is $500 (you can increase that with an application and more documentation). I plan on DCA'ing into XRP every day through the month. Since it will take 5-7 days for each ACH transfer (which seems a little excessive in this day and age, but anyway...) I will miss funding anything with CredEarn until May 1 (if I am understanding they will only do these bullet loans twice a month, on the 1st and the 15th).
As for 10k lba tokens, at 4 cents per, it would take a lot of money to make up the difference between getting 9% with and 7% without to cover $400, so I will probably pass this time around.
Congrats on $SYMW, G Street. $DOMR next? I sure hope so, but that one is quiet like a ghost town right now. Meanwhile, feeling like a FOMO fool for jumping in near high (and eventual close) on $MJTV in last hour. Not that I think it doesn't have the makings of a runner, but feel like there was no hurry. Only question is do I dollar cost average if I am right about a pull back tomorrow? Maybe it opens with a dip like it did today.
OK, was this a newbie move or what? Bought some $MJTV at 0.0026 in the last hour. Is that chasing the breakout or what? Looking at today's chart, is it not likely that it will easily be lower than 0.0024 some time tomorrow? Thinking there is no hurry here. Almost never is.
Still a handful of .0026's left; my apologies I did not clear them all
Guess that makes me the smart money... today. Yesterday, not quite so smart. More concerned about tomorrow through to next week. And, yeah, maybe I should take care of more pressing matters before I read another string of i-hub posts. Now where did I put that W2...?
Up day, down day, up and down day, followed by a down day...
From your lips to the big market maker in the sky's ears, Garyst, that a nice up day is due this week. Doubled down today at (what I hope will be) a bargain price. Had to un-click the All-or-None button again today. Got 1% of my position early and then filled the other 99% with 35 minutes to go.
OK, I took the bait. Hope to wake up Monday to a big runner. Be nice if the website on etrade was updated. Current link to crosswindnow.com:
This domain was recently registered at Namecheap. Please check back later!
Had to uncheck the All or Nothing box to get more than 10k shares. Last time I did that was two days ago with DOMR. That one had a disappointing day yesterday, but bouncing back today...so far.
I have been on this site for a few weeks and have picked a few 'gurus' to follow on a trial basis. (But no pressure, pb! Everybody's risks are their own, as are their rewards... with a Pay it Forward some time in the future, I hope)
OK, Gare, I took the DOMR plunge today. Had to un-check the All or Nothing box to pick up 30k shares, 10k at a time. (Have been using AON since getting a partial fill which included a loose 7 shares last week.) Hope the lack of large lots at this price (0.03) is a good thing ...now that I am in, that is.
PS First iHub post ever! Almost put it on the individual stock board, but since you are posting here, too, I thought, as a complete Newb, this was the appropriate spot.
PPS As I just started w/free subscription, this is 1 of only 3 posts I can do per day, so please nobody take slowness to reply as an insult. (Hmm... I guess, in case you do not like being called Gare, I should go ahead and apologize for that now.)
