What I mean by that is – what would our grandparents, great grandparents, or great, great grandparents think of us for relying on others for so much? Is that what they instilled in us? What they taught our family members before us? I say that is not what they taught unless they were lazy, weak or criminal.
The ones I knew just wanted for me to do the best I could, with the hope I could make a good life for myself. Doesn't mean we don't like them get curved balls thrown at us down the road. We can't control alot of what goes on in our lives.......like our health. We can try do all the right things, but this doesn't assure that we won't get something dumped on our heads.....Patrick Swayzee is one example,,,,,,,,,,and Walter Payton is another that stands out......even Ronald Reagan.
I see your point, "except", I disagree with this perspective. Lets go back a little farther, and take a look at history. Every ruler, every country and every breed of people willing to war throughout Asia, East and West Europe, the Middle East, and Africa wanted what their country didn't have, and did whatever to get it............500 years ago it came to these shores. We know the result.........they came in the name of the Queen, King, and "God"............
Moving in fast forward we know what WW1 brought, a Europe everyone fled from for all the reasons we're aware of, but yet went back to die for a government whose president wanted the money loans secured. Ten years after, the Great Depression brought on a people who wanted to continue to believe in prosperity, and if not for soup lines, and handouts many would have died. We also know that it was the corruption of those who controlled the market that caused it.
Unlike the last 3 years we could see it again, and maybe worse if we continue down these roads to ruin. Its a different era for sure, and there's reasons why we have lost more than 95% of our manufacturing jobs, and why corporations look for a hand out, and bailouts, just like our oil companies..........and our politicians have been played like fools, and for decades..........
We starting heading down this path after Eisenhower, and we've been on it ever since.
Its these people the re-pubs want to protect,,,,,,,,,the likes of Wall Street, and the financial industry, Goldman and the like.........they even have country clubs for the likes of Bernie Sanders. Its a two tier society, and the upper tier never gets enough nor will ever have enough.
If we just go back to the year when Reagan took office our national debt was $780b.........and look at whose been controlling the white house since, and the House throughout most of the years since, and look where its all gotten us One, in a hole we may never dig our way out. Look whose getting the blame, and whose suppose to eat it now?.............and its not the first time either. How much money did the heavy hitters get out of the bailouts personally?.....which brings me to this statement of relying on others for so much. The American people throughout this last century has paid, and paid big. We have how many troops protecting the people of how many lands today?, when our own has been heading down the shitter for years. Just look at what most of our American cities are like today, and its infrastructures............10 years of war has cost this country big, but just two of many our government walked the American people into.............We would have to be blind my friend not to see what all that shits about..............
But I do agree with ya on the point of not looking to government......."for anything". For one the officials for the most part are as dirty and corrupted as they come, and a lie to them is little more than the last one they told.
In turn they should lock up with their mega rich friends and leave the rest of us the hell alone, don't ask anything of us. When their ready to fight another war send them, along with the politicians, and their kids.
One day the street may arrive on their doorsteps, and knocking at their doors.......... they will have brought it on themselves. This isn't a government of the people, and for the people. Its something alright, and even though this country "may" be better than other places in the world, it was this way 500 years ago, much better. They illustrate to us and the rest of the world whats wrong with us as a people, why we have bridges falling down, why people lose jobs, and can't find work..........if only we had people who could lead and solve problems, and who could stop the warmongers?.......
Have a good weekend my friend......hope you don't mind my putting my spin on things. If we could all only figure out what we as individuals need to do to survive that in itself would be a miracle.........but we can't expect our elders from past wars, and in nursing homes, and the sick to be able to.........this is much of where its heading........when we become a people that is that cold hearted, this will never be a better place to live.
Jer
In reality its legalized corruption. Our government, and its agencies sponsors fraud. The Fed, the Treasury Sec., Senate Banking Committee, and the almighty Congress work in collusion with Wall Street,
Hedgefunds, an industry unregulated, but yet our government allows them the right to do business in our markets every single day, and they steal millions everyday, because they can.
Hedgies lay down very little cash of their millionaire, and billionaire's investment dollars, they operate from borrowing, and credit, having the money to back up their transactions,(one example is borrowing blocks of stock), to sell so they can drive the price down, and they pay good commissions for inside info, information they use when borrowing and selling.
Borrowing blocks that may not even be available, and the broker knows it, but sells anyway. At the end of the day the damage has been done. The commodities market, and the financial industry(the large banks) which are bigger now that before the collapse. The SEC, even the Rating agencies having proven they to can be bought and sold. The IRS operates like an entity of itself, but in reality the head of it is the Treasury Secretary.
You mentioned that its kinda like going to Vegas.
When a person invest there's risk involved, but with the corruption in the market is greater than the risk associated with it, its no longer investing. Its a racket!
The House always wins with the exception of a few. Ask anyone who holds a mutual fund, and or invested in a 401K.
We saw a couple of people go down. Madoff, Stanford and several others who for the most part were used as scapegoats. What Madoff did, and what he got wasn't justice, but compared to what Aig did, and others like them, and being publicly traded corporations only touches the surface of what the government should have done and still do........But yet they created the stage for it so they'll do nothing. There should have been enough indictments handed out to create one of the longest soup lines since the Great Depression without the soup.............Instead they were rewarded with more money, and bonuses for doing such a bang up job.......Many of our soldiers, and families got caught up in this, while on active duty, it was more of the same stuff that was going on prior to 911, but in its face, when all the attention was focused on the wars, these racketeers used every facet of it, and hauled in more money for themselves than ever before. The corruption/fraud was on such a massive scale that everyone of us felt, and will continue to feel its impact in some form of the other................All are guiltless, no ones the blame.
All Berman has "ever" done is to use this market with these " many symbols" to steal money. He's never had a real business, nor will he ever!. It the means to his end. He's a liar, and thief. This sums up what he is, and anyone who associates themselves with this crook aren't any better.
Not alot has changed in this market, the scammers continue on like before. The derivatives market is still unregulated, just like the OTC market without oversight allowing crooks like him to continue committing fraud. Is it any wonder why?
Where are the regulators, and the agencies that allowed Credit Default Swaps, and any publicly traded corporation to sell some type of insurance policies with the promise to cover their bets without having the capital to back them up, and unbeknownst to individuals who were invested with the likes of AIG, or those who had legitimate policies, and not one has been indicted on any level. What did happen as we all well know is the government gave them whats known today as the biggest bailout in history........"just so they could cover their bets, one being with Goldman". All them partied it up, and rewarded, and some with yet even larger bonuses.
Never mind whats its cost this nation, its people and world economies our politicians have failed to get a grip on the realities of whats happened, and what the future may hold if things don't change..........It begins with this market, and the allowance of Insiders getting to use these companies or those with just symbols as their own personal ATM's.
Over the last 15 or so years the derivatives market has grown from $35 Trillion with a T to $595 Trillion. Hedge funds continue to operate without real transparency just like AIG did, just like all the companies in this sector do. The only time our government wants to do something serious, in-particular the republicans is when they want to act against the American people, blaming all of us for their costly in lives, and money, mistakes that have driven this country into the ground at $11T, spending another $3T in an attempt to fix it.
The bigger issue is that its not the first time for bailouts, nor the first time getting us into wars that were unjustified to satisfy corporate greed who wanted a stake in the action by being given government contracts, and or access to resources, and its been going on for decades.
Its all a part of this mess yesterday, and today..............
Now that the winds blowing in another direction they want to see if their boot fits sideways up all of Americas ass?. That is, if we don't fall into some huge sinkhole first?, our infrastructure is deteriorating faster than they can build up other countries.
That sounds like something that moron would say.:) Kinda like we needed to give more love to the OB/Gyns. I don't know what he meant by that?...........but I guess its open for interpretation.
I believe that was what he was alluding to..............:)
Not the Congress, Federal Reserve, SEC, certainly not the Rating Agencies, and in this case the President which happened to be Clinton don't want people like her if they aren't willing to sell their souls, by giving up what makes them who they are, like their integrity, common sense, and intelligence. I believe I remember hearing the language, "they shut her down"...........she then resigned. This had to make Goldman Sachs a very happy camper, and all those at the top of its Goldmans Wall Street tower.
The difference between the democrats, and the republicans according to Lewis Black. :)

Check out this video in additon to reading the info below and the comments made regarding health, and retirement for members of congress. I'm assuming the info is correct without going on a fact finding mission.:)

Breaktime: Remember this guys?.......Years since I heard last. I had even forgotten it............we get disco night on one of our radio stations every Saturday.............I just happened to be running an errand. Enjoy!
Another nutty plan. Nafta, just look at how its turned Mexico around, > to our borders <, then Gatt, and the 22,000 page agreement, that only one Senator looked through, along with the WTO who operates in secrecy. We're getting world trade alright, and all the empty non returnable, non refundable ship containers, kinda like all of our plastic bottles today.
The Collapse
Making a fortune off the subprime mortgage business' collapse; homeowners who walk away from their house; the shortcomings of relying on a 401K for retirement.

I just happened to catch this on Cnbc who hosted 60 minutes last night strictly by accident. The Federal Government, "our elected representatives", who claim during their campaigns that they want to go to Washington to represent the people of their districts, their State, and country. They promise to be proactive, and to fight for their interest. Till they get there!. Most forget the faces they looked into, the hands they shook, the promises they made, the money they received in contributions. Few stand on the platforms they ran on...............Once there all their ambitions change, they join the gang, and become absorbed in all thats wrong in Washington politics. There's to much graft, and promises to go around from those who will offer them a great future, and who will ultimately control them.
Retaining their integrity, and honesty is not something the parties can't take away, nor the lobbyist. These attributes if real cannot be bought, or sold. They become willing participants to serve those who didn't get them elected. The people who are self serving, and care little about this country, the American people, or anything else other than money, power, assets, and the lifestyles it affords them.
The very agencies "our government created", for safeguards, and protection, many by FDR have been hacked away into agencies that represent the very ones that the system is to protect us against.
Just look at the Rating Agencies: Standard and Poors, Finch, and Moodys giving triple A ratings to junk bonds, for a "Price", they knew were garbage.
Whose always working in the shadows, and continues to operate regardless of how many times they've been fined over decades is Goldman Sachs. It would be like allowing Arthur Anderson to continue. If they cooked the books for Enron for a million a week, its obvious they were doing it for many others, and they were the biggest. We know now how they got to be the size they were.
I will post the links to the video's you've mentioned about the big short, and inside the collapse. Listen to what this one Congressman says during an interview regarding the 401k industry. He said he wanted to change what was wrong, but he got pushed back so hard with the fury from the lobbyist that made him unable to do anything for change.
The very people who serve us who are suppose to protect us especially from fraudsters, illegal activities, and our nation from what they know to be corruption, are suppose to introduce the bills to do so, and are expected to get them passed through the Senate, but never happens. If they did we wouldn't continue to see what we do time and again. Each episode has grown larger and larger, this time it brought the economy down to its knees. Instead of bringing forth indictments to all those involved, they get rewarded, and are able to keep their ill gotten gains, receive a hand shake, a pat on the back, and rewarded even moreso.
If it were the syndicate involved in similar activities the FBI would have been all over them.........But for these guys its all legal corruption.
Our politicians try to convince us that black is white, lies are truths, and they have so little power to enforce change because they need all of congress to support their efforts in doing so. When the American people acknowledge whats right and wrong, what is really legal, and illegal, the Congressman who fail to act should themselves be condemned and brought before a committee for termination. White collar crime is really nothing more than the willing commitment to participate in financial terrorism to fund whatever activities they are involved in to detriment of others.
When founders of corporations, Ceo's, and their insiders can use publicly traded corporations like their own personal, and private ATM's consistently, continually, like Bill Gates, and Ellison, and all the rest should tell us all that there is something terribly wrong with the entire system. The root cause of this corruption originates here, then spreads across our entire financial system even taking root in the Cayman Islands.
It looks like we may rebuild Iraq, and build an Afghanistan instead. Iraq was nothing more than an excuse to keep us in Afghanistan, the reason why Bush didn't even want Bin Laden. Money was to be made. The Carlysle Group made $240m or so at the onset of our entering Iraq is just one example. Old man Bush was tied to this business even as 911 was happening, and so were members of the Bin Laden family. Guess nothing stinks about this huh?.......Then there's Haliburton.........
The Crumbling of America comes on next Thursday on History International at 9pm..........The estimate of the cost was approx $5T to repair all thats failing, but there is another documentary titled Inspector America or something like it, an engineer who has traveled the country, and viewed its many failings. He estimated the cost, if you can imagine at $22T.
When Eisenhower was president $12% of generated tax revenues was used to maintain what then was relatively new..........after he left office the downward trend began.........its now around 1.5% or less. The corporations, and the mega rich no longer pay any, or little taxes. Even though these corporations are used like their own personal ATM's and their legal theft continues almost daily, they manage to keep most of what they rake in.
Imagine what it all really looks like up close and personal, this is what both these programs illustrate.
I think I somewhat do everytime I leave the house, I have to dodge pot holes in some places like bullets.
There use to be signs on the roads, "your tax dollars at work". Years ago. Now we know if our tax dollars had been at work this would not be the case.
I didn't say I was old, just my memory. :) Somedays it works and others it doesn't. If only there was a way to hack into that. Maybe next year?. :)
Can Your Car Be Hacked?
Kim Boatman
Find Under: Prevention
You might be behind the wheel, but increasingly, computers control your car’s every function.
Microprocessors direct braking, acceleration and even the horn these days. “Because they are hidden, people don’t often understand that there can be anywhere from 30 to 40 microprocessors in most cars and even up to 100 different ones running different functions in some vehicles,” says Stephan A. Tarnutzer, chief operating officer for DGE Inc., which provides electronic designs and consulting for auto manufacturers and suppliers.
But could a hacker compromise these systems? Recently, several news reports have raised the issue of car-hacking risks, including:
Vehicle disablement. After a disgruntled former employee took over a Web-based vehicle-immobilization system at an Austin, Texas, car sales center, more than 100 drivers found their vehicles had been disabled or their horns were honking out of control.
Tire pressure system hacking. Researchers from the University of South Carolina and Rutgers University were able to hack into tire pressure monitoring systems. Using readily available equipment and free software, the researchers triggered warning lights and remotely tracked a vehicle through its unique monitoring system.
Disabling brakes. Researchers at the University of Washington and University of San Diego created a program that would hack into onboard computers to disable brakes and stop the engine. The researchers connected to onboard computers through ports for the cars’ diagnostic system.
Is your car at risk?
The potential for car hacking is real, although there may not be a financial incentive for hackers to focus on autos just yet, say the experts. “All the malware attacks consumers are faced with every day have financial motives behind them,” says Ryan Smith, a principal researcher with Accuvant Labs who finds vulnerabilities in computer systems.
Most of the danger right now may come from hackers who want to demonstrate their prowess and enhance their reputations, says Tarnutzer. And the increased reliance on wireless systems -- such as the tire pressure monitoring system -- makes your car more vulnerable to these attacks, says John Bambene, a security researcher with the Internet Storm Center, the global cooperative community that monitors cyberthreats.
Protect your car from hacking
Security is largely in the hands of auto manufacturers, who are working to address concerns. In the meantime, you can take these steps to protect your vehicle:
Ask about wireless systems. Familiarize yourself with the wireless systems if you’re purchasing a new car, advises Bambenek. For a car you already own, you can review your manual or check online. Find out if any of the systems can be operated remotely.
Ask about remote shutdown. If you’re financing through the company from which you purchased the vehicle, ask about remote shutdown related to repossession. Make sure the seller has security measures in place that control access to the system.
Go to reputable dealers and repair shops. It’s possible for unscrupulous garages to manipulate your car’s computer systems, making it appear you need repairs that aren’t actually warranted. Don’t cut corners when it comes to choosing a dealer or repair shop.
Protect your information. Of course, locking your car is always wise. And if you use OnStar -- the GM-owned auto security and information service -- make sure you don’t leave OnStar-related documents or your password in the car, says John Luludis, president and co-founder of Superior Tech Solutions, an IT provider, and a former car industry tech executive. Since OnStar can remotely shut off your engine if you report the vehicle stolen, there’s the potential for mischief if your password falls in the wrong hands.
Be cautious about after-market devices. After-market car systems may not be as rigorously tested or designed, opening you to vulnerabilities, says Tarnutzer.
Luludis compares the use of computers in cars to the development in our use of personal computers. Hacking exploded when the Internet evolved, making it easy to access computers via networks. Wireless connections mean your car is no longer a closed system. “Once you have connection to vehicles, you have an entry point for people to try to access,” says Luludis. “The only thing standing in their way now is a standardized piece of software. It’s a concern we need to address.”

Everything that Born stated before congress is indicative of the corruption that exist in the highest of places (The Federal Reserve who operates in collusion with Wall Street, and the banks, the entire financial industry). Its inconceivable that a privately run Hedge-fund with no transparency, and unregulated, could get bailed out with the help of a Federal Reserve Chairman in addition to banks giving huge amounts of money, into the billions to keep it from failing due to it making bad bets.
Derivatives are just that, securities they create that no one can even understand, just like the CDO's, and the Credit Default swaps which were insured as if these things were tangible assets, and could be insured. The biggest policy maker was AIG who received a staggering $176 "Billion" to cover them. What it was actually was in hock for from what I read was $470B. Then we come to Goldman Sachs. 2 former Treasury Secretaries were Ceos of one the biggest Hedge-funds, and who to operates out of the Cayman Islands, like George Soros, and nearly 10,000 more who are not registered with the SEC, with no accountability.
Is it any wonder whats wrong with our government institutions, fighting in unjustified wars so it can give out billion dollar contracts to corporations, why our infrastructure is collapsing, why we're $14 trillion + in debt. Many of the biggest corporations pay Zero taxes, and those that do come in at around 15% if that?.
Whats driven our country into the ground is greed and power, and when we delve into the lowest recesses of the policies our government has put in place over decades, its due the ones who really pull the strings, like you've said, "the lobbyist". The only thing that drives these forces again, power and greed. Kinda like all the systems in the world, and what has existed for centuries. The very things that may cause it to collapse in on itself one day.
According to the republicans one way of remedying this problem is to give a trillion dollars in tax breaks to the wealthiest people in this country.............then ride the backs of the middle class if there is one in making sure that everyone else pays theirs, and then take everything else away from the rest, the most vunerable, as they see as "the 2nd class".
This only touches the surface. The young people don't know how things were in the 60's or 70's. I remember when people were left to die outside of hospitals because they had no health insurance, and couldn't provide a card...........they should visit some county nursing facilities, and ask if they would want to see one fo their loved ones admitted to one because they have no other choices.
Don't miss watching this.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/
Everyone needs to watch this, in its entirety.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/
Just look at what prolonged, and unjustified wars can do with a corrupted financial system with tentacles reaching to every part of the world, and their corrupted financial systems, and whose elected officials are bought and sold like meat at the market.
We inherited an oasis "our planet". If governments, and the leaders of countries, and the people continue in the same direction thats taken us to what might be annihilation in some form someday, and we choose not to change course for the betterment of all mankind, and for each other, and our earth we may all perish.
Even all those at the top who tilted everything in their favor for the sake of greed, and power will not fair any better, they to will not have any place to hide. All their riches will not save them.
It was listening to some of the people of Japan watching the Tsunami come in while standing in high enough places so not to washed away say, "Its over", a complete surrender, gave me pause to fear the things that could be awaiting us. A devastating power that no one could stop, and all they could do was helplessly watch the destruction. For some all that they had ever worked for was gone in seconds, and for others their very lives.
It makes me wonder what our fate might be, and what role we may play into bringing it on?. The past several years have been pretty ugly, and not a whole lot prettier prior. This last year worldwide has been a testament of what nature alone can do. How much more do we all add to it?. It should be a wake up call to governments and people alike, but for most, they appear unshaken.
Japan is back out whaling again in the face of all thats happened to them. It all government subsidized. Its unbelievable!
Have a great weekend everyone.
Isn't that the truth. I remember when you could buy a corvette for $6k, and a camaro for $4k, and a house could be purchased for $19k, and min wage was $1.65..........I think wal is right, he said we're going backwards, I think we're going foward into the past, but at a much greater speed. Those same things, well nearly, the difference is $60k, $50K, and $175k respectively. Min wage even now hasn't even kept pace. Guess its okay if your a kid, and living at home. Germany has a better system in many respects, perhaps in this area we could learn something?

Even in the initial stages of contact between European Christians and
Native Indian people the stage was set for ethnocentrism, and the
attitude towards the Indians was that of Christian superiority. The
Indians were read a proclamation in Spanish which they had no hope of
understanding, they had no hope of understanding the death sentence they
were being read, and it went something like this:
"We ask and require you to acknowledge the church as the ruler and
superior of the whole world and the high priest called pope and in his
name the king of Spain as lords of this land. If you submit we shall
receive you in all love and charity and shall leave you, your wives and
children and your lands free without servitude, but if you do not submit
we shall powerfully enter into your country and shall make war against
you, we shall take you and your wives and your children and shall make
slaves of them and we shall take away your goods and shall do you all
the harm and damage we can."
2000 years ago we were all tribal.
Then came the missionaries with their ******* bible.
1492 began the termination
The holocaust of our Indian nations
Yeah, with Christian love and a moral authority
They killed our medicine men and stole our country
I never claimed this **** was poetry
It's just the ******* lies of Christianity
You will pray to the lord and get down on your knees
Here's a cross for your back and the coughing disease
Though you helped us survive we will laugh while you bleed
Then deny what we did, write our own history
We will kidnap your children and cut off their hair
Silence their language and outlaw their prayers
Beat them blind until they believe
In the blood of Jesus Christ our king
Christians murdered Indians
Columbus murdered children and now we have a holiday
Still you want to deny your history
Look to the sky for your god to justify
As you commit cultural genocide
Christians came and the natives they did hang
13 at a time for Jesus and his gang
We are the ones you had to dehumanize
So your murder and greed could be justified
The belly of the church is full
With the blood of all those heathen fools
Who would not receive the gift of Christ?
So we burned them as a sacrifice
To our baby killing god above
To our mother church and all her love
We will steal their gods and subjugate
Those who don't believe we'll ahnilate
"The Spaniards made bets as to who would slit a man in two or cut of
his head with one blow. They tore babies from their mother's breast by
their feet and dashed their head against the rocks. They hanged Indians
by thirteen in honor and reverence for their redeemer and their twelve
apostles. They put wood underneath and with fire burned the Indians
alive."
Christians murdered Indians
We believe in the earth, the sky and dreams
The universe and the creator who gave us these
The sacred gift of life and human beings
That makes you perpetrate the hate to ahnilate
So here I am the savage civilized
Voice of the dead and my ancestor's cries
And like the ghosts of this land you can't erase
I see blood on the hands of the master race.
500 years of manifest destiny
500 years of resistance to the enemy
You have faith in the rivers, the mountains, the trees
We've a murdering god to replace all of these
With the blood of forgiveness you too can be free
Or the wrath of Jehovah you're sure to receive
We will baptize you with the blood of the lamb
With the sword and the gospel we will conquer your land
You will join our church and be glad to be saved
Or we'll slaughter your children and your women we'll rape.
Christians murdered Indians
I see blood on the hands of the master race.

I love my country and my freedoms, but the way it was initially obtained was deplorable.

Before having read this I had stated this very opinion with my mother in law whose a history buff. It makes sense when you think of it. A greater injustice was done when we consider how lacking most of them were. Many a poor white particulary in the South didn't fair alot better.
When all this came to a boil cooler heads could have prevailed, and through diplomacy, and maybe a couple more years, things may have possibly changed in the South for the South, as well as the North, but we'll never know?.
Sherman, his march, and his men had the same mentality of Saddam Hussein when his men aggressively entered Kuwait. They did the same thing, even setting fire to the oil fields.

This sounds almost like we have just witnessed. To add the tornado's, floods, and now fires.

Deregulation combined with unregulated, and no oversight mainly due to past presidents, and both houses of congress, they managed to bring this country to its knee's. Where did I hear that coined phrase "trickle down economics"?........mmmmmmmm sounds a little fishy to me! :)...........trickle down to Wall Street is more like it.
On the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, Americans are engaged in new debates over what it was about. Southern revisionists have long tried to claim it wasn't about slavery, but rather "Northern aggression" – which is a tough sell since they seceded from the Union despite Lincoln's attempts at compromise on slavery, and then attacked the federal Fort Sumter in South Carolina. That would be Southern aggression, by any standard.
http://www.salon.com/books/history/index.html?story=/opinion/walsh/politics/2011/06/09/civil_war_america_aflame
And while many Northern Republicans came to embrace abolishing slavery as one of the war's goals, Goldfield shows that Southerners are partly right when they say the war's main thrust was to establish Northern domination, in business and in culture. Most controversially, Goldfield argues passionately -- with strong data and argument, but not entirely convincingly -- that the Civil War was a mistake. Instead of liberating African Americans, he says, it left them subject to poverty, sharecropping and Jim Crow violence and probably retarded their progress to become free citizens.

Bin Laden, and his henchmen had made similar threats. The question will our countrymen live in fear or stand tall?. Many chose to live in fear after 911. They need to understand that whatever they may decide to do to our country, or any one of us, will force this entire nation rise up and slay them. To live in fear from threats,, or intimidation is have no life. We didn't survive WW2 because our people chose to look the other way, nor will we in the future.
The financial markets hearing the US didn't increase its debt ceiling. :)

Not so............its how it was obtained, a greed you and I know nothing about. Somethings wrong with that picture my friend. The political clout it carries is enormous, just look at what it can buy.............no different than the once infamous robber barrons whose legacy expands till today. Its just another added piece of whats wrong in government. The real people and institutions who buy influence and make policy according to their wishes...........
just look at what it can buy???????????The Fed Chairman, IRS and the tax loopholes, The SEC, just look what it did for Madoff, and what it could have done for Ken Lay.........it got us all where we are at today, 10 years in Iraq, and trillions in bailouts, and the republican leaders are now wanting to the working class/middle class to pay for all their years of corruption which has brought this country down to it knees...........where do we go from here?......
how about a trillion or so of tax breaks over the next ten years since they've done so much for the country. Our grandparents, eldery parents, or those of us who have disabled family members, or not can pay for it all. "ask yourself this"?, Most will or would lose their health care, the insurance companies will love it. Can you afford to take care of it or at least a portion of their cost for care, and or living expenses, maybe their burial when that time arrives, many will have to give up that insurance just to cover daily expenses............
Keep that in mind, and let's all hope he can blunder through the next 24 months until we get a chance to vote for an adult. With half the country in full-scale delusion we might have a 50-50 chance.
Not even. More like 70-30.........I believe there's even more adults in the room this time.:) Even after we'll still hear the fairy tales. Trump is one good bullshitter, but he has somewhat of a comical spin.
Keep an eye on what occurs in WI.
This is a re-post, I posted it with caps. Not purposely. Its an eyeopener even in small caps.:)

Iraq was a money making opportunity. It was the single most excuse for us remaining in Afghanistan, and how sad that part of it is.
In the face of all this Wall Street, the Fed, the SEC, and the Rating agencies helped to further deteriorate our country.
Bush/Cheney didn't really want Bin Laden, or didn't know how to get him, or had the guts to do it. Posting the $25m reward on his head didn't get the results. This could have, and should have ended long ago without our involvement in Iraq. But money was to be made. There are others just as guilty.
Bin Laden was evil, and to attack this country on this scale knew wasn't gonna be good for him. Its harder to believe that he would have surrendered if he had the option to arm himself. It all happened in just seconds and minutes. He got caught with his pants down, like we did on 911.
Obama did what could have been accomplished under the Bush Admin, he's proven it, and they don't deserve one ounce of credit for it, not one of them was sitting in the situation room, not one of them tracked him, not one of them was in control of the mission, or was calling the shots. They bring even more dishonor on themselves, but who ever said they had any?. To think they would want any credit as opposed to giving the President his due. How much worse can they make it look for themselves?.
