The term "heart disease" is often used interchangeably with the term "cardiovascular disease." Cardiovascular disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke.
MAYO Clinic, they ought to know.
Sorry about the double post the first one disappeared when I was trying to edit it and I thought it was lost.
Dr. Bredesen has a very informative video on Alzheimer's it's causes and treatments that he recommends.
Look at this video
No, epa and dha are long chain LCTs. MCTs are C8 and C10, they are not digested but go directly to the liver by the venous shunt. They are metaolized directly to ketones.
Just curious, does anyone know how much reduce it cost Amarin?
Also, on listening to news you don't want to hear, did you know that in Dec. 1941 intelligence reported German troops massing north of the Ardennes forest. Staff didn't listen, OOPS
Maybe a light coat of vegetable oil on the capsules just before taking them.
"That's not the question, obviously it does not inhibit statins completely or even a lot as the lipid profile of the placebo group did not go to levels that they would if everyone stopped taking statins. "
I did not suggest that it did inhibit satins at all, I simply said it was the obvious way to find out. These kind of analyses are done all the time by pharmaceutical companies. I am a bit worried that this not being done becasuse as said to me by a director at a former employer (a 'BP') "If you don't want the answer don't ask the question".
I haven't seen any other MO hypothesis here.
No replies? Does my question seem unreasonable?
I don't understand this mineral oil controversy. If the question is does mineral oil inhibit statin absorption why do they not just do a quantitative analysis of serum statin concentrations with and without mineral oil? Statin serum concentation seems to be a pretty trivial analysis problem.
Tasty do you take protien powder supplements?
Or just measure the statin concentrations.
I don't think the compliance rate will have much impact. Remember they were in a trial where they did not know which arm they were in and did not know if the drug being tested actually worked, that is quite different from having a doctors perscription that you know is going to cut your CVD risk by 25%. Most probably quit because there were just too many big pills to take.
I am not questioning that there is great interest in using preparative hplc for purifying drugs, however, it is a very expensive process and it would only be suitable for expensive drugs. The separation of EPA and DHA should be pretty easy using vacuum distillation, which is pretty cheap. I don't know what other crud is in raw fish oil; I expect it is bit of a challenge but you need to know what you are separating to develope a method. Distillation and crystallization are the two main techniques for separating large quantities of material.
This looks like a patent filed to lay claim to a future possibility. Preparative chromatography on Vasepa scale would be ungodly expensive. A quick search shows state of the art columns have a capacity around sixty tons per year.
I ran Roches preparative chromatography lab for 10 years in the 70s and the only product they purified with PHPLC was a durg active in microgram dosage and needing only a few grams a year production.
Is obesity a cvd risk factor?
I don't UK rules apply either. I think John Thero discussed that on one of the conference calls and said neither UK or Irish rules applied.
This MO keeps popping up. It would seem pretty easy to put this to rest. Were they not monitoring serum concentrations of the statins during the study? If not, it should surely be easy I do a simple test and find the answer.
I wonder if maybe some hedge fund algos are driving the price lower. I just listened to a video by Stanley Druckenmiller and he was observing how signals in the past that indicated a stock was poised to go up don't work as they used to because the Algos are programmed to bet against a stock when they detect a three sigma event such as the past quick rise in the price of Amarin. Stanley has a pretty good record, he had a run of 30 years of 30% gains.
Sam could you post a plot of weekly year over year TRx. That would remove a lot of seasonal variation.
Thanks
If you are on medicare be sure to remind your pbm that you will be getting another pbm at the next open enrollment, if needed.
I sent them an email two days ago listing the reduce it results and with a link to the NEJM paper. The DSs are going to a problem as long as Vescepa is not least Tir 2.
Hi, newbie here. Just a suggestion but I think you should drop the word other in the balloon. It is maybe better not to mention fish oil at all in references to Vascepa, just simply refer to it as icosapent ethyl. Also, I do think the Vascepa balloon should be higher and the fish oil balloon could have a few wavy lines coming out indicating a bad odor.
