Ferg,
I sent you a Private Message..
Joe
Ferg,
I guess you are correct. However, I feel it might be best to just sit back and hope for the best. There is nothing you or I can do to change anything. Let's just hope Frank gets TTN up and running on April 11 and take it fromn there. It is all in Frank's hands for here and all we can do is wait and see. I truly believe once the broadcasting is launched there will be no holding us back. If Frank was smart he will forget what the shareholders are saying and just produce as promised. He won't have to prove anything to anyone and his actions will speak louder....

Hang in there everyone. All Frank has to do is get this thing on the AIR on April 11 and IMO we will take off from there.
Good Luck,

Gay TV network retreats to the closet
by Eric Erickson
Thursday, 22 March 2001
Dish Network subscribers may finally get their gay TV, but only after the new channel changed names reportedly to satisfy executives at the satellite network who objected to using the word 'gay' in promotional materials.
More than a name change? As the Gay Television Network, the channel’s ads trumpeted gay programming. As the Triangle Television Network, 'gay' is omitted in favor of 'alternative lifestyles.'
The people behind the Gay Television Network originally said the channel was scheduled to launch last November through the Dish Network, a satellite cable subscription service based in Littleton, Colo. The start-up date was pushed back to January and then to February, when Dish publicly denied a formal relationship with GTN.
In an interview last week, the gay network’s founder, Frank Olson, said the channel, based in Palm Springs, Calif., is now scheduled to launch on April 4, but this time as the Triangle Television Network, under a renewed partnership with the Dish Network.
“They didn’t like us calling it the Gay Television Network for their TV guide and things like that,” Olson said about the name change. “So, to make compromise so we could get things moving forward, we compromised to call it the Triangle Television Network.”
Olson said that GTN, now TTN, has 4,000 subscribers signed up to receive the signal through Dish Network for an extra $19.95 a month. Olson says all that TTN has to do to finalize the deal with Dish is make “a couple deposits,” which he says are ready to be made.
TTN’s contact at Dish, Eric Sahl, confirmed confirmed the planned start date of April 4. Still, Sahl said the relationship between Dish and TTN is not yet finalized and that TTN has yet to make the final financial deposits.
Sahl went on to say any advance publicity about the renewed relationship between Dish and TTN could squash the deal entirely; something TTN’s paid consultant, Renee Schenck, confirmed on Friday.
Related Issues
For an overview of this issue see:
Television
Despite the confidentiality agreement, Triangle Television sent faxes last week to Southern Voice and a number of other gay publications announcing the new launch date and seeking "trade advertising," under which the publications publish the ads for TTN at no cost and then receive a fee for every subscriber who joins the network. Schenck said he was unaware of the ad campaign and refused comment on whether it violated TTN's confidentiality agreement with Dish.
The new ad campaign for Triangle Television bears striking differences from the trade ads published last year and in early 2001 for the Gay Television Network. The GTN ads featured a headline proclaiming, “Gay-TV is out of the closet,” and featured the word “gay” 15 times.
The new ad campaign for TTN never mentions the word “gay,” instead calling TTN the “first television channel for America’s alternative lifestyles.”
The network even changed its Web site address, from www.wearegaytv.com, to www.triangletelevisionnetwork.com.
Sahl refused comment on the name change or any other details about the Dish Network's partnership with TTN, referring all other inquiries about TTN to the Dish Network’s director of communications, Judianne Atencio.
Atencio would not comment about Dish’s negotiations with TTN, the projected start date or why Sahl said a published report about the new network could cancel the deal with Dish.
Atencio would also not comment about the channel’s new name, which one gay activist calls a subliminal pseudonym.
“It’s like a secret hand shake type of thing,” said National Gay & Lesbian Task Force Communications Director David Elliot, adding the triangle is a popular symbol within the gay community, deriving from the pink triangles worn by homosexuals in Nazi concentration camps. The symbol is less widely known in mainstream culture.
Elliot said he would rather see the network use "gay" in its name, but he doesn’t fault TTN for the change, nor does he think the network is turning its back on gay viewers.
“I think it’s more complicated than that,” Elliot said. “It seems like they had to closet themselves for a reason, and I think that it speaks to the larger challenges that we as a movement face when we’re trying to operate in a culture and to a media that’s not very friendly to our interests," Elliot said. "I wouldn’t put all the blame on them here from what it sounds like.”
When contacted about the change in promotional plans for the cable channel, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, a media watchdog group, had tougher words for TTN and Dish.
“GLAAD is disappointed that a media company that wants to market to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community has taken out all references to the community,” said Kevin McClelland, GLAAD's Atlanta-based regional media director.
“We encourage everyone to contact Triangle Television and the satellite provider, and we plan on running this in our national GLAAD alert,” he said.
Rocky road to airwaves
This isn’t the first time negotiations between Dish and TTN have engendered controversy. TTN, then known as the Gay Television Network, ran advertisements in gay publications nationwide last winter, highlighting the partnership with Dish.
In response to the ads, Dish issued a press statement denying any contractual relationship with the gay network.
“Dish got a case of homophobia,” Olson said in a January interview, remaining confident, then and now, that the gay channel would eventually launch on the Dish Network.
Olson says TTN’s programming for America’s “alternative lifestyles” will include coverage of gay pride parades, gay rodeos and a slew of gay themed movies.
The service will cost subscribers $19.95 a month, on top of regular charges to receive the Dish Network. Olson says TTN will not take any money from subscribers until May.

“The first month you’re not going to be charged, except through Dish. The reason is we need to start building up customers,” he said. “The $19.95 isn’t charged because we’re greedy, the $19.95 is the cost of almost $400,000 a month for the satellite time.”
When it launches April 4, Olson says TTN will present six fresh hours of programming a day, repeated overnight. Over the following three months, that six hours will expand to a full programming day.
John
Just to confirm. I spoke to DISH Headquarters last week and I was told the same thing as you. In fact All I did was ask about TNN and this guy just took off from there. He knew exactly what was going on and confirmed the April 4th start date. He went on to say barring any unforseen circumstances we are a go for the 4th of April.
At these prices one will nuts not to pick up more. Of course IMO.
Good Luck,
JcRadio
John,
Hope all is well. It has been awhile since we spoke.
Looks as though QBID might finally break out. Time will tell.
Good Luck,
Joe JcRadio
Arch,
Thanks...
It is starting to look good for QBID. Apparently CMDA/QBID have finally come to an agreement with ECHO STAR aka Dish Network. The subject matter was a sensitive issue with the DISH Network. After a few agreed changes it appears the programming will launch on April 4, 2001. IMO, within the next few days there will be more info listed on the websites of both companies. It has been a long and hard haul for QBID and things will finally come together sooner then most anticipate.
If it is okay with you I will update this thread as often as possible with the lastest info along with links as my source.
Thanks for all your support..

ZKEM MAJOR NEWS RELEASE
(BSNS WIRE) Xechem Announces Discovery of Plant Extracts Active Against Hel
Xechem Announces Discovery of Plant Extracts Active Against Helicobactor
pylori, Vancomycin Resistant Bacteria and Methicillin Resistant Bacteria
Business/Health Editors
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2001--Xechem
International, Inc. (OTC BB: ZKEM) today announced it has discovered a
number of medicinal plant extracts from Peoples Republic of China (PR
China) and India showing excellent in vitro biological activity
against Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), Vancomycin resistant bacteria
and Methicillin resistant bacteria.
Helicobactor pylori has recently been found to be a primary cause
of gastro-intestinal ulcers in humans. Routinely, a doctor's treatment
for this condition may comprise using a triple drug therapy of
amoxicillin, clarithromycin and Prilosec(R) just to name a few of the
prescribed combinations available. One drawback to this present-day
treatment is the fact that many people are allergic to the antibiotic
amoxicillin, resulting in a need for an alternative therapy. Also
amoxicillin and clarithromycin may remove beneficial bacteria from the
gastro-intestinal tract. The plant extracts isolated by Xechem's
scientists are natural products that have the potential to be a
preferred medication in this important area of ulcer treatment.
Similarly, certain bacteria are becoming resistant to antibiotics
such as vancomycin and methicillin. Therefore many of the major
pharmaceutical companies are looking for products/compounds active
against these resistant bacteria. The Xechem's plant extracts have
shown excellent in-vitro results and current in-vivo studies are
progressing.
According to Xechem's President & CEO, Dr. Ramesh Pandey, "We are
very excited with these findings in the "anti-infective area".
Preliminary in-vivo animal studies have shown that these plant
extracts are non-toxic. Further work on these materials is continuing,
as well as discussions with several major pharmaceutical companies.
Meanwhile, Xechem has filed patent applications with the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office to protect its findings. The Company has been
researching in this important area of anti-infectives steadily for the
past six years. This area has just started budding and we expect it
will start bearing fruits in the near future."

WILL DISH SERVE UP GAY TV? A COURTROOM MAY HAVE TO DECIDE
News Analysis by Crusader
Exclusive to metroG.com
PALM SPRINGS, CA (January 26, 2001) -- The lavish 12,000 square foot corporate offices of Co-Media, Inc. and Triangle Multi-Media Ltd are filled with promotional materials for what was to be the premiere of gay television programming exclusive to Dish Satellite Network beginning February 2. Co-Media and Triangle claims they have invested approximately $7 million in money and commitments to develop Gay Television Network (GTN), which was to provide a very large number of gay and lesbian programs for Dish. Dish is owned by EchoStar Communications Corporation, whose corporate offices are based in Colorado. Triangle Broadcasting (an arm of Triangle Multi-Media) currently produces gay radio programming on the Internet from their Palm Springs studio.
On January 16, Co-Media announced in a PRNewswire press release that GTN programming would be aired exclusively with Dish, and provided details about how consumers can take advantage of a $19.95 per month promotion that includes the dish and free installation. The promotion is also featured on GTN's website (Gay Television Network), and in advertisements placed in 77 gay-oriented publications throughout the nation. According to spokespersons for Co-Media and Triangle, the ads in question were reviewed and approved by Dish prior to publication.
Shortly after the Co-Media press release was issued, however, it became unclear whether or not GTN would ever see the light of day on Dish. According to a January 19 Multichannel News story (via http://www.tvinsite.com) a Dish spokesperson denied the "gay TV deal." When metroG attempted to access the GTN website that weekend, we received the following message: "The Gay Television Network Website will Be Down Until Tuesday January 30th for database configuration and server upgrades." During that same weekend, GTN's corporate voice mail system must have been inundated with inquiries and crashed, because several attempts to its corporate numbers over the weekend resulted in a few rings followed by dead silence.
metroG finally caught up with Triangle Media CEO Frank Olsen on January 25 via telephone, who confirmed that a contract had been signed. "They got cold feet," he said. "They came to us to have us air programs. They approved our ads, and then all of the sudden when our press release came out, they then denied they had a contract with us."
Olsen said that the reason web surfers could not access the GTN website on the weekend of the 19th was because Dish had "asked us to take the site down," even though all parties involved are said to have entered into a $360,000 per month contract. GTN (Gay Television Network) is back up on the net and was fully operational at the time this article was written. Olsen said that Dish was apparently upset after MSNBC ran a headline stating that Dish would "serve up gay TV." Dish also asked for an apology from Co-Media for mentioning Dish in a press release. Gary Goldman, corporate attorney for Co-Media, told metroG, "We wrote them [Dish] a letter of apology, at their request, apologizing for releasing the [January 16] press release without getting their approval on it."
After playing telephone tag with Dish's media relations department for two days, I finally got what amounted to a "no comment" from spokesperson Mark Lumkin on January 26. When I asked him for a comment about "the gay television programming controversy," Lumkin said he had no idea what I was talking about. When I specifically mentioned GTN, Co-Media, and Triangle by name, he vehemently denied that Dish had a written contract with the entities in question, and refused to confirm or deny that they now are in or have ever been in negotiations with GTN, Co-Media, or Triangle Multi-Media regarding such programming. "When we launch a new channel, we enter into negotiations with the program designers, enter into an agreement, and put out our own press release," he said. When asked to comment about GTN's ads in gay publicatins, Lumkin said, "We never approved [GTN] ads for the gay media."
So, what inquiring minds want to know: Is this some sort of scam operating out of a boiler room with a post office box? Why is a multi-billion dollar satellite company denying any involvement with gay television programming?
After spending more than an hour touring GTN, and speaking with the main players in an informal setting on January 26, I can unequivocally state that this not only appears to be a legitimate venture, but that once this programming gets on-the-air, it is going to put a face on gay-related programming that will rock the world!
Upon entering the corporate office, located near downtown Palm Springs, I observed a Dish banner over the reception area, which GTN spokespersons say was provided to them by Dish. While waiting in the reception area for the grand tour, I leafed through the current issue of Expressions (EXP) Magazine (based in Missouri) and noticed a full-page advertisement for GTN: "Gay-TV is Out of the Closet! Subscribe now to the first and only Gay-TV Channel..." Moments later, I was greeted by GTN founder Frank Olsen, who literally dropped everything he was doing to give me a complete tour of the offices and studios. (For all trivia buffs: the studio was once the home of "The Morton Downey Jr. Show.") If this is a scam operating out of boiler room, then these folks deserve an Oscar. After the tour, I interviewed Olsen, Marvin Jenkins, president and CEO of Co-Media, and their corporate attorney, Gary Goldman.
Goldman confirmed the contract with Dish. "We have a written contract to distribute Dish [satellite] dishes to the gay community, and it is signed," he said. "We have a contract to go on the network, which has been modified several times at their request. It has been signed by us...They have changed the terms, in writing, on several occasions. The latest was a couple of days ago, after their press release denying they had a contract with us." (During my brief conversation with Dish's Lumkin earlier in the day, he categorically denied that Dish ever issued a press release denying the GTN contract.)
Jenkins provided metroG with compelling evidence of a contractual relationship between EchoStar and Co-Media. He explained that in the original ad submitted to EchoStar for their review, the Dish logo was in blue and "we were instructed to change it to red."
Jenkins also said that Randy Bowman, the regional sales manager for EchoStar, came to Palm Springs on October 3, 2000 and gave a training session at GTN studios for all GTN employees. The purpose of the training session was to explain to employees the policies and procedures for selling subscriptions to the Dish Satellite Network. Jenkins said they have the training sessions on video tape to utilize for new employees. Goldman said that some employees were even sent to a Dish training program in Sacramento, California in November.
In a November 28 letter addressed to Co-Media, EchoStar's senior vice president of the satellite division states: "EchoStar looks forward to a business relationship with Co-media (sic) that will continue long past the term of this initial Agreement...Again, EchoStar looks forward to a long and mutually beneficial business relationship with Co-media (sic)." That certainly does not sound like a company without a contract.
On December 1, at EchoStar's invitation, Jason Shearouse, vice president of marketing for GTN, gave a presentation in Sacramento to Dish's West Coast distributors. This presentation, according to Jenkins, was also video taped. On January 11, 2001, EchoStar's Bowman is said to have come to GTN's offices for "an update on our programming and GTN issued him a check made payable to EchoStar," Jenkins said. On that same date, according to Jenkins, Michael Schwimmer, vice president of programming for EchoStar, spoke with Triangle's Olsen to "officially welcome GTN to Dish's family schedule."
Olsen described a variety of gay-related programming on GTN to metroG, including a "Gay Court" program. GTN spokespersons said it will be similar to "Judge Judy," but will focus on the unique issues that gays and lesbians face in every day life. Will the first "Gay Court" program be the case of Co-Media, Inc. v. EchoStar Communications Corporation? "There will be a lawsuit launched next week if they [EchoStar] do not comply with the terms of the deal," said GTN attorney Goldman. He said that Co-Media and Triangle would seek $300 to $400 million in damages in a California federal court. Goldman said that as a result of Dish denying the gay TV deal, GTN has "lost credibility in the gay community, and it is costing us a lot of money in terms of [losing] customers." He said that GTN is doing everything possible to negotiate the current matter without going to court.
metroG is committed to keeping its readers apprised of any new developments with this story.

Dish Network backs away from Gay TV
by Eric Erickson
Thursday, 25 January 2001
A partnership between a fledgling gay television operation and the company supposed to transmit its signal to millions of subscribers has fallen apart, leaving the launch of Gay Television Network in doubt.
GTN wants to provide movies like 'It's in the Water'-along with other gay programming-despite the apparent pullout of corporate partner that was to beam the network to gays across the country.
It was a novel, even unheard of concept: Gay television programming around the clock. For years, gay men and lesbians around the country have waited for their Gay TV.
And it was supposed to happen later this month.
But delays have plagued Palm Springs, Calif.-based GTN, which initially said it would launch last November. That was delayed to Jan. 23, then again to early February.
In promoting itself, GTN said it would run gay movies, gay religious services, a gay spin-off of "Good Morning America," even a gay cooking show featuring drag chef Betty Delicious. All gay, all the time-at least first on the weekend, and slowly expanding from a 12-hour broadcast day.
And GTN touted a partnership with Dish Satellite Network, which would help GTN tap into Dish's 5 million digital satellite subscribers.
But this week, Dish said that partnership was premature; GTN said Dish is suffering from "homophobia."

"Dish got a case of homophobia," said Frank Olson, president of GTN and it's parent company, Co-Media.
Olson said Dish Network spent four months in Palm Springs, installing fiber optics equipment that would send the signal to gay homes across the country. Some 50,000 people have inquired about GTN, Olson said.
But when GTN issued a press release touting the Dish partnership, the alliance unraveled, Olson said.
EchoStar, the parent company of Dish, said the company had talked with GTN in the past, but that talk of a partnership was premature.
"The press release they put out was in error. We do not have a contract with the Gay Television Network," said Judianne Atencio, EchoStar's communications director. "I have nothing to say about GTN."
But in a Nov. 28 letter to GTN from Mark Jackson, an EchoStar vice president, Jackson writes that "EchoStar looks forward to a long and mutually beneficial business relationship with Co-Media"-one that will last long past the initial terms of a one-year agreement.
A representative in Jackson's office would not comment about GTN and referred comments to Atencio, who did not respond to further questions.
Olson said GTN stands behind a contract it has with Dish.
"I believe we do have a contract. We don't have this whole office full of Dish paraphernalia for nothing," Olson said. "We didn't give out 10,000 Dish bumper stickers at the last Pride festival for nothing. I didn't get it out of the fruit stand. We have an agreement and we expect them to fulfill it."
Despite the recent troubles, Olson said Dish has been easy to work with.
"They've been angels. We believe Dish Network is going to come through and honor their commitments," he said. "We're proud and we're proud of Dish company. We expect them to come through so we can be proud of them again."

Olson's said GTN can still make good on its dream of the all gay, all the time TV network.
"I thought it was the greatest thing. We can sit and watch sitcoms that weren't made for a cross-over audience. They were made for us," he said.

QBID/CMDA UPDATE #2
This is starting to appear as one MAJOR media exposure.

Dear Publishers,
As a result of recent controversy surrounding the distribution of Gay Television Network on Dish Network, we felt we owed you an explanation.
We are sending you evidence of the existing agreement we have with Echostar Communications Corporation (Dish) so you can pass this information on to your readers. We are also sending you a copy of a letter we sent to Dish this morning.
Co-Media, Inc. and Triangle Multi-Media have invested approximately $7 million in money and commitments as of this date to develop GTN. This was done based on commitments from Dish Network. Lacking any other reasonable explanation, it would now appear that Dish has developed a slight case of homophobia.
The contract with Echostar (Dish) represents a $4 million plus revenue stream for them. Echostar (Dish) was selected because of its professional business practices and locking capabilities, which provide easy access to the gay community without intruding into the living rooms of anyone who does not wish us to be there.
GTN intends to broadcast February 2nd. It is our sincere desire that Dish Network honor its commitment and broadcasts GTN. With the present delay, this might not be possible on February 2nd, but there is no reason we cannot go on the air in the first two weeks of February.
We want to thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Frank Olsen

Dear Mr. Schwimmer,
As you know, recent statements by your company have caused us irreparable harm, both with our customer base and our programming providers. Since we have a valid agreement with you to go on the air and to sell your dishes to the gay community, we are extremely perplexed as to the position apparently taken by “your public spokesman.”
The purpose of this communication is to advise you that we are proceeding to honor our commitment to go on the air on February 2nd via your satellite network. Accordingly, we request that you immediately notify us that you intend to fulfill your written and verbal commitments.
We are available to meet with you in any location of your choosing within the next two working days.
Very truly yours,
Marvin Jenkins

Gay TV Refutes Dish Deal Denial
Jan 25, 2001 — Is there a battle brewing between the Dish Satellite Network and the fledgling Gay Television Network? EchoStar, Dish's parent company, denied late last week that it had any plans to launch the gay-themed cable network, which is owned by Palm Springs, CA-based Co-Media. A source close to the deal, however, tells Gist that GTN has a signed distribution contract with Dish and that the network plans to launch as scheduled. The source accused Dish of "damaging [GTN's] credibility."
GTN last week issued a press release saying it would begin service as a premium Dish channel on Feb. 2 with news and entertainment geared specifically toward the gay and lesbian market. —Steve Noveck, Gist TV Staff
