SJ, MY 2C WORTH:
Consider taking a profit on those shares in your Roth if and when we get above $2. Then turn those dollars into shares of real companies like AAPL, MSFT, AMGN, JNJ, etc. Save some of the BPTH shares for the "home run" if you still have an optimistic outlook but get that Roth portfolio built up before you retire.
Just my advice from a guy who retired eight years ago.
Good timing SJ. Your basis for the Roth must be about .90. Hopefully you can leave those shares in the Roth and get huge, tax-free rewards in the future. I established my Roth in December 2015, so can start tax free withdrawals in Jan 2020 (if I understand it correctly).
I note that BPTH shares outstanding has increased from about 95M shares to 101.1M. I assume this is from the Cantor Fitzgerald offering which was approved for $25M. At that time the price was 1.27 but now about .90 so this dilution could account for much of the drop in PPS. Short selling is contributing as well.
Welcome back, now bend over and grab your ankles.....shorty.
SJ, looks like you paid too much. This baby's not gonna turn around on technicals. We need assurance of progress in the studies. Surely they are ready to recruit patients in the 1b CML study by now. They have to have submitted anIND application for BP-1002 by now.
Peter has to be losing several hundred thousand per day on his own stock.
It must be time to buy or is it panic time?
The ask price is under $1; is anyone buying?
SJ, you sold some wine? I drank some wine, in fact a lot of it. I suspect we have a couple of days to buy under $1 this week but I'm betting on "news" and increased buying before end of week. I am also optimistic about the tooth I put under my pilllow.
Last week the "shorts" sold 77,593 shares per day. Yesterday the price was up .03 but sellers outnumbered buyers by a large margin. It appears that we will fall below $1 before the buyers come back. Who knows how far it will fall before a turn around? Not looking too good from my view but I will probably find a buying price eventually.
The. Buyers did not step in, even at $1.00! One more buying opportunity; I hope the believers in this company have not run out of patience (or money). I'm sure I'll scrape up a few dollars tomorrow to get some cheap shares.
SJ, I must agree. If it goes under $1, okay. In the past I would buy more shares but I find myself "overweight" BPTH again so I'm just gonna hang in there and wait for news about phase ii.
Our investing friends at ARIA finally got their payday with a buyout offer from Takeda. We could see a similar offer in the next 1-2 years.
Tyrone, BPTH ran up to $5.25 in Jan 2014 after completion of five cohorts of phase 1 study showing efficacy and lack of toxicity. That news resulted in new buyers and increased volume. I suspect that some buyers contributed to the frenzy while planning to then short the stock (this is a common practice that biotech investors use). I do not see evidence of a "Wasatch front scam".
SJ, i can still taste blood.
2016 is over and:
1. IND for BP1002 has not occurred
2. Recruiting for phase ii study of CML has not occurred
3. No evidence of phase i on TNBC/IBC
4. Stock price is essentially unchanged for the year..
On the bright side:
1.Phase ii of AML study is underway
2. Web page has been redesigned
3. CEO and other officers are receiving handsome salary
Zippie, that was a masterpiece of psychological and legal insight into the mind of Donald Trump. My bet is on continued progress in the expansion of legal marijuana use but Trump could slow us down......who knows?
I don't disagree with the concept of studying the fascinating effects that cannibinoids have on malignant cells. And I think there is convincing evidence of benefit in the treatment of certain forms of epilepsy, as well as chemotherapy induced nausea. But you are providing very dangerous propaganda when you say that cannibis is a cure for cancer.
Even a high school graduate with one or two science classes should understand that proof of cure requires double blind randomized studies of human patients. If these studies exist please reference them for me. I am not interested in getting "scientific information" from a website that provides propaganda like "amindunleashed".
My enthusiasm for finding ethical uses of cannabinoids for medical purposes continues but let's follow the scientific evidence.
Not a surprise that BPTH needs money to continue. The question will be "how much dilution will we see"? It could hurt. $125 million is about equal to our present market cap. Does this mean our shares could fall by 50%?
Ty, are you talking about the nasdaq that closed at 5483 today? The same nasdaq that was under 1200 in March 2009? I'm just wondering what you mean by "no growth".
You are right, SJ. We will need cash soon to keep this baby afloat. Assuming the IND is approved for BP1002 and they start recruiting patients for the phase II CML study, the burn rate could easily double and they will run out of cash by the third quarter.
That means DILUTION or cash source such as partnership or out-licensing of the delivery system.
I assume that the shareholders meeting took place but no press releases and no posts that I can find. Maybe Peter took the drugs and ran?
I get the impression that your post contains valuable information that might help guide my decision to invest in TRTC. Unfortunately your inadequate use of the English language and your repetitive use of abbreviations make the post meaningless. Please consider having someone proofread your information before posting.
I apologize if this sounds personal. I just want to understand your message.
End of year selling could be a good explanation, especially with the decline in price. We have had a day or two that looked like an increase in buyers......but I probably made too much of that.
It looks like this will be the fourth day of increasing volume. Does this mean anything? Or am I looking too hard for good news?
The best strategy will be to hold shares and buy more if and when the price drops. That's what I'm going to do.
You're right, SJ, some gleevec resistant patients will benefit from BP1001. This data comes from the phase 1 study so is old news and most importantly came from the first cohort with the low dose of 5 mg/kg.
Unfortunately, they have not yet started recruitment for patients in the CML 1b/2a study. We need new data. If they use the 60 mg dose, we could see amazing results.
It looks like the stock price is very volatile but it appears to me that it will bounce back at 1.50-1.60 ($US). I just bought in today and think it could be a monster stock in 2017.
Wow,......a free-fall,.........a fire sale,.....a stock raid,......
While I saw the way back to $1, I did not see it happening so soon. Short selling this week has not been overwhelming so the fall has been due to longs bailing out (IMHO). Today we appear to have increased momentum from the sellers. When we are oversold, I assume the buyers will swoop in. I hope to find some money somewhere to add a few more shares myself.
I'm getting a bit tired of these new "buying opportunities". I do not want to see it go back to 1.00 but will buy again if it drops that far.
Great question, SJ. I don't know where to look for the answer to that question......Short covering could be part of the increased volume but it sure looks like real buyers (maybe wishful thinking on my part). We will see if the trend continues next week.
Big volume indicates that this company has really turned around. I don't know why but volume was consistent all day long and finished with 57000 share purchase at the close suggesting an institutional buyer jumped in. Without speculating about the reasons for the high volume, it is a good thing and I suspect this will continue for a while.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm feeling pretty good about BPTH right now. From the technical point of view we are up about 30% in a very short time and I feel pretty smart for increasing my position while shares were falling. I feel like I may be able to plan on a better retirement with the probability of this company being bought out in the next couple of years.
On the downside, they're still missing every projected deadline but we should have three promising trials in place in the next two months. The existing data makes me optimistic that all of these trials should have positive outcomes.
Surprisingly, there appears to be a lot of shorting even at these low levels. Maybe that's okay because a good rally will flush them out quickly.
SJ, my point was antisense technology works and that is big news to many who invest in these start-up companies. Their success increases my confidence in BPTH.
Exciting news about antisense technology. Check out Ionis Pharmaceutical and Biogen. IONS is the leading company using this RNA technology to target specific diseases. They have positive results in a phase 3 study of spinal muscular atrophy. This really proves our treatment platform is successful. IONS partnered with Biogen and now is priced over $32 despite absence of earnings. BPTH may be the next RNA antisense success story. We just need that big pharma to come in and partner or purchase BioPath. It's gonna happen.
Sorry I can't figure out how to post a link to this story on my ipad .
Orphan drug status in Europe is important news. I also like to see BPTH spreading the word about the company. They are responding to the low PPS and apparent lack of interest in their company. And VOILA, look what's happening. The stock price and volume are responding.........just like the system is supposed to work. I picked up a few thousand bonus shares at .99-1.05.
I jumped in at 1.12 (a bit premature). I will consider raising cash somewhere and buying at 1.00.
