but for some reason those getting abortions did not avail themselves of it — why not one pill for those missing their perod
As I explained last night, getting reliable contraception in the '60s was not always easy:

Trump did advocate against the Central Park 5...
And, I believe, continued to do so even after they'd been exonerated by DNA.
I haven't tried FaceTime lately. Or ever, for that matter
We've warned you about looking in the mirror.
I wonder if the Borger clients have to report that their former financials can't be relied upon.
Oh yes. They do. Marcum had a ton of clients, too. They were, at least in 2021, the seventh-largest auditor in the States.
I would be sooo happy if I expected to be a millionaire or billionaire any day now.
Ooooh! Me too!!
That is tons of fun! First, DWAC realizes it's chosen the wrong auditor in Marcum. That was a year ago:
https://www.sec.gov/files/litigation/admin/2023/34-97773.pdf
And now Borgers, TMTG's auditor--which they fiercely defended in the past few weeks--has his head on the block. Really, WHY did the SEC allow this merger to happen?
I'm curious. What did nodummy ever say about SONG? Or about you? He's posted very little at IHub in the past four or five years.
Well then, that's fine.
Sheesh. But I see I didn't make the cut. Am I losing my touch?
So, no "get regular" pill -- darn -- no fortune for us -- darn, darn, darn
Of course there is. It's the pill most women have taken at some point in their lives. The one that appeared on the market around 1960. Modern versions contain much less estrogen, of course. But either way, you take it for three weeks a month and then you don't take it for one week. (Maybe it's less than a week, but I don't really remember.)
Quitting for a week will prompt menstruation. So as long as the woman makes sure to stick to the schedule, she'll become regular. The pill is sometimes prescribed just to help women who're wildly irregular. Also to help women with acne and other stuff.
Me, the dog and the cat have weekly shedding contests.
Do you have that Roomba yet?
That was a terrific thing to do for your daughter! She must have loved it!
i remember Fonda took a lot of flack for her anti-Vietnam stance...
lol, she did. After all, she went to Hanoi and met Ho Chi Minh...
Why didn't your illiterate/hick family put your daughter on birth control?
That really isn't fair. The Pill existed, and had since 1960. Diaphragms also existed. But In the '60s, VERY few parents were enlightened enough to encourage their daughters to seek contraception. High school "sex education" courses--at least the one we had in my high school--were laughable, and focused on abstinence. And the danger of STDs. Which, as with the unwanted pregnancies, ruined the lives of girls. You see, the boys went to a Bad Part of Town, and were Taken Advantage Of by sluts. And then they went home and contaminated their innocent girlfriends, whom they'd persuaded to Go Too Far.
They moved on, but the girls could never be saved. Their fate was never revealed, but probably they ended up with tertiary syphilis.
Of course most of my high school classmates only pretended--the boys, that is--to have a real sex life. Necking was as far as most of the girls would go. We didn't want anything to screw up our college plans. But if we HAD wanted contraception, I have no idea where we'd have gone. To the family doctor? Hell no. And it really wasn't till the '70s that teenaged girls were encouraged to see a gynecologist at least once a year.
I first had sex when I was in college. I didn't want to take any chances, but Wellesley is in Massachusetts. At the time, NO form of contraception could be prescribed for unmarried women. And so I asked around, and was given the name of a doctor in town who was willing to write Pill prescriptions for women who said they were "engaged" and planned to marry in a few months. I made an appointment, and got my script.
But it was embarrassing, and should have been unnecessary.
Your daughter was born in 1953. She got pregnant at 16. (1969) Roe wasn't made legal until 1973. Tell us how you found her an illegal abortion.
C'mon, that's not really fair. I was born in 1948. When I was in high school, it was well known that people with money could get abortions. One classmate was rumored to have had more than one. I never knew whether that was true or not. Most girls who got "knocked up" were forced to drop out of school, even if they had a shotgun wedding. They were considered to be bad influences. The boys who'd done the deed? They could continue their studies. No problem, no blame. It was always the girl's fault.
Some went off to "homes", usually run by nuns or other religious types, where they stayed till they gave birth. That was pretty grim.
Abortion is MUCH better.
There's another problem. Men would be MUCH worse about remembering to take their contraceptive meds. A guy thing. Macho. And much of the time they can't be bothered even to have a condom ready.
And didn't you go to school? It's "AN idiot".
And you are very rude. Didn't your mother teach you manners?
No. It's much more complicated than that. A total mess.
Have fun! Mark Basile is a big fan. There's something up with him. He's gone full MAGA. Retweeting fake newspaper articles written by fake reporters.

Don’t believe the #fakenews media’s twisted spin. I had a choice between the safety of my children and an animal who had a history of attacking people & killing livestock.

Indeed.

This chick is really into all of it. She may have given a TED talk, but she's a raving conspiracy freak.

Something like that. Cool dominoes!
I haven't been following it, but South Korea's been hysterical about supposed naked shorting recently. And a number of American Get Shorty types have jumped on the bandwagon.
But cashews ARE American. South, not North American. But nowadays India and several African countries are big producers.
Several of them are nutcases.
I like the backwards fingers!
Look at the black car. The image is seriously distorted. It's kind of humpbacked, and the wheels are way too close together. I'm sure the same thing's been done in other parts of the photo.
Manchin didn't resign. Last November he said he won't seek reelection this year. But he plans to serve out his term.
At that time he was considering a third party run, but gave the idea up a few months later.

LOLOL!!
Yes, there was a lot of hysteria.
One evening when I was a junior in high school, I was watching the evening news. It featured the usual footage of a couple of U.S. Army infantryman walking carefully through a dense Vietnamese jungle, swinging their guns from side to side. Fortunately they didn't step on any mines, and nobody sprang up to shoot them. I'd seen it a million times.
And suddenly I thought: This is REALLY STUPID.
Naturally, when I went off to college, just about everyone I met thought it was stupid.
That was back in February. Manchin and his buddies gave up on the third party thing. And Romney said no from the start. Even proposing him as a VP candidate was insulting. After all, he'd been nominated by the party as its presidential candidate in 2012, and he came close to winning.
The domino theory. Those nasty commies were gonna take Vietnam, then Cambodia, then Thailand, then Indonesia, the Philippines, even AUSTRALIA!!
I was only in high school, and I didn't buy it. I'm not sure why not. After all, I didn't really know anything much about the history or culture of the area. I was just unconvinced.
No, I've never made the effort to find out. But he isn't anyone famous. He is a real chef, though.
LOLOL!!
I hope we would have realized that.
LOLOLOLOL!!
