You're most welcome. Thanks for the wish back.
I hope it comes to pass as of NOW.
In the past five days Student Son (ex-Soldier Son) and I have had three almost unbelievable experiences... not good ones. It better be over!
All three affected him much more than me though.
All is well now. (I Hope.),

To all my friends and acquaintances here who live “South of the 49th”...
Have a very happy and rewarding, yet safe Thanksgiving!

Excellent point about copying the files and data and running the .exe.

If it happens that you eventually cannot repair the hard drive...
Why not just purchase a new (bigger?) hard drive and fresh install on that?
That way if you find a solution later you can go back to the old one.
The data should still be on the old one and probably retrievable to the new one?
Just a suggestion,
Id
Great Story!

Interesting.
I seem to have better results than that, but I use "Power Save" enabled.
Now for a curiosity:
One Saturday morning I turned on my (Win 98) computer.
It soon started clicking and crashing. I shut it off and headed to the 'puter store.
It took several hours but after a bunch of re-boots, I saved it all to the new disk.
A few months later I found a formatting program on the manufacturer's website.
It was not Windows or Win DOS, but IIRC, ran from a second floppy after a floppy's DOS boot.
I believe it was for a "Low Level Format".
It took its time, but when finished that 20 gig drive ran perfectly.
I gave it to a Son for a second (data) drive and he used it for years.

Good to go, Excel, good to go.

Where in Hades is that “Recommend This Post “ clicklie?

Zero Perspiration.
You got my point perfectly about lib hypocrisy.
And the wind turbines and the Kennedy compound was a most perfect example!

Sooo… a tree falls in the forest. It does make a sound even if nobody is around to hear it. That’s not my point though.
Microbes and insects attack the fallen tree, eventually returning it to ‘dust’.
That process results in all kinds of ‘Greenhouse Gasses’ including CO2, CO, Methane etc.
The burning of leaves just accelerates that same process.
Besides, the memory of the aroma stays with you for your whole life.

Thank You extel, Thank You!
I tracked the documentary down and watched it.
Close to two hours long and not a minute wasted on my part.
Hope this link works…

I did a rethunk also. (Sometimes I am capable of that.)
How about at the bottom of a message, a “Go To Top” clicker?
Not at all practical for brief messages ‘cause one is already ‘there’.
But it would work for longer ones.

Your request was valid… Nothing to be sorry about!
My method is quick, BUT a bit awkward though.
Right hand changing back and forth from the mouse to the buttons;
or right hand on the mouse and the left covering the buttons.
Id
I use the “Home” button on the keyboard for that.
Besides the mouse, I use PgDn, Home, PgUp, and End buttons a lot.

Where in Hades is that "Recommend" button ?

Your mind works much better than mine, K².
Hi K²,
Hi Nabbbss,
Concerning: 4) Ron Brown:
I have heard about the hole in his skull before… But…
I get an hour long TV show here about (usually) passenger jet crashes, but a few episodes were about problems in flight that the pilots managed to overcome and land successfully with no injuries. The name of the TV show is “Mayday”.
Here is a Wikipedia on the Ron Brown incident broadcast on “Mayday”.

In further searching Truth or Fiction was not much help. Snopes (As unbiased they are of course <sarcasm>) had this to say (# 19, about half way down the page):
http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/bodycount.asp
In the Snopes account is a link to the Air Force investigation:
http://web.archive.org/web/20021002034252/http://www.af.mil/news/Jun1996/n19960610_960550.html
Dunno. Just sayin.
Id
P.S. There does seem to be a lot of “suicides” etc. connected with the Clintons. I’m glad I do not know them.

Thank You and K².
We had our turkey dinner at our “Student Son’s” place Saturday evening.
I previously referred to “Student Son” as “Soldier Son” but he is out of the military now, and back in school.
The kid can cook.
We took the Beagles with us, and besides the turkey, they had an additional treat. A sleep-over.
The Beagles sleep on the bed, sometimes tunneling under the covers to snooze. They also are known to ‘migrate’ to a different bed through the night. I’ll have to ask Student Son’s housemate or housemate’s girlfriend if they left their bedroom door open and were rewarded with a nocturnal visit or two.

Ya don’t have to be a baseball fan to enjoy that!
I wish iHub had a recommend / don’t recommend feature.
A definite thumbs up from me!

Ditto Larry.
I had that happen twice yesterday.
Took me a while to find that the video's sound level was as you suggested. I hadn't experienced that before.

Battery Voltage and Power Tools
Do not let the battery Voltage be the main criteria when choosing a DC power tool. Yes, generally the higher Voltage tools are better, but that is likely due to the tool being of a newer design.
Electrical Power is defined by the equation:
Power (Watts) = Volts x Amps
The Amps (current flow) is determined by the motor’s design.
The Voltage (electrical force) by the battery’s design.
Between 12 Volt and 24 Volt theoretical systems, if the 12 Volt tool uses 2x the current (Amps), then the Power delivered to the motor is the same.
However, the wiring and speed controller or switch in a 24 Volt tool do not have to have as large a current capacity. Voltage is not much of a problem in such low Voltage situations, but current (Amps) and the gage of wiring become a minor factor.
Pick the tool based on its’ features, specs, battery capacity (doing the math to equalize this), ease of use and weight. Let’s not forget cost here! Let the Final decision between two or more tools be the Voltage.
Go with the higher Voltage as a tie breaker when in doubt.

As a kid, I would sometimes dream that I was floating about four feet above my bed.
Snap awake, I fell back to the mattress, bouncing.
It wasn’t terrifying, just kinda unique. And no, I cannot self-levitate.
Id
Some years ago, our three sons came home with ear to ear grins.
They had jumped out of a perfectively serviceable aircraft and survived.
What ticked me off was the fact that I had not been invited along.
The closest I ever came to that was, as a Boy Scout, jumping out of a jump tower onto a zip line on an air force base.

Schlage?
We had them at work, but I never got into them.
I have one in the basement (~40 YO) but it uses visible screws.
Perhaps a smaller (thinner blade) screwdriver would work.
Then pull on the knob.
There is always the BFH solution, but let’s not go there yet.

EZ, from the text:
Go ahead EZ, ask your questions. Someone will respond.
In the video there is a mistake made that could lead to …
The screws that hold the handles in the door are on the inside of the room. The square shaft that activates the latch is on the outside handle.
As the door is closed when he removes the screws, it is possible that the outside handle and thus the shaft COULD get pushed out of the latch, effectively locking the handyman in the room. Now, if he has his toolbox with him, he probably could find something to retract the latch freeing him from this embarrassing situation.
Before you start, have the door open and even put something on the floor by the jamb so the door can’t close.
Besides the latch assembly having a round or rectangular face on the door’s edge, I believe there are different lengths and diameters. Different manufactures come into account also.
If the present latch is in good condition and properly interfaces with the new handle, I would not replace or even remove it.
Saves work and time. (Yeah, I have been accused of sometimes being lazy.)
