Nice, Nelson...Darlene. T Graham Brown, in honor of my most excellent friend and food customer of over 30 years who died Monday. Darlene Anderson. RIP fine lady...
A lot of cool, interesting music by collaborators at https://www.playingforchange.com/

Thought the latest free listen tracks featured on FB posts were Jackson Browne (live, with others) and a Dicky Betts tribute song.

I wondered why you didn't reply way back when I first put up this gut bucket blues with Adrian's unique blues guitar intro.
In fact, nobody said a peep. Totally surprised me. At first I thought it was because it was an extremely slow blues piece.
But like I've said previously, everyone here has different tastes, and there's a solid leaning toward the rockers, which is understandable when it's part of your own history of seeing concerts and gigs and getting attached to those players and bands.
Certainly I get that, but for my money, Adrian's guitar playing was completely different from the myriad players that have come down the pike.
This was Adrian Guillery (guitar, harmonica) and Jeremy Steig (flute) with a lineup called Moe, Adrian, and the Sculptors in 1965 before the two of them went on to record that Jeremy and the Satyrs album in 1968 along with Eddie Gomez, bass- Donald MacDonald, drums, - Warren Bernhardt, keyboards.
"Love Train" produced by John Hammond.
Well that Thursday, April 11th, spike didn't last very long.
Might've only benefited a lucky day trader or two as both PM's fell right back down and closed at their recent lines of support from whence they launched.
April 12, 2024 closing prices:
2,343 Gold
27.84 Silver
Up, up, and away, at least for this afternoon, for Gold and Silver. 2,375 and 28.47, respectively as I type. Where's the juice coming from?
Llyod Price, Just Because
Freddy Fender's version was good as well.
murray, do you have any stories about either of these artists?
I was in Kingston, NY, on Broadway, at a soda shop next door to the Community Theater drinking a lime rickey with pals as we were.plunkin' nickels in the booth's jukebox listening to the Everly Brothers sing this song, Cathy's Clown, and Wake Up Little Susie.
Years later, after having played drums with Jesse Winchester in Canada, and back in NYS, I hung out with Kris Kristofferson and John Prine, due to my Jesse connection, after their shows at the same Community Theater.

Been a tough sled for the miner's, for sure JD400, so not too much to crow about or point to in their results.
Last time I had contact with the cork (Bob Bye) was 08.24.2020, and he is certainly missed, RIP.
You've done the best you could JD400, and that's all we could've asked for.
Maybe gold will finally pump up the miner's if the massive debt loads everywhere finally take their toll and if the current global hotspots catch fire with uncertain results.
Nothing like pertinent charts being included to make the economic picture relative to PM's clear as a bell.

I pitched songs to Chip Taylor, who wrote 'Wild Thing', when he was doing A & R at April Blackwell Music in Manhattan at the Brill Building complex in the early 60's.
Guitarist John Platania (played with Van Morrison) was from my hometown area in upstate NY. Saw him play locally in the early 60's.
Both are thoroughly interviewed in this extensive interview. I'm sharing it for any music history buffs on the board.

Myth, very kind of you to pin Memphis Jerry Lee for now. As an example of why I wrote the tribute to Jerry Lee, just take a look at the piano solo starting at 2:00 minutes into this track. Jerry had such complete command of his playing in that genre.
Starboy's "Memphis Jerry Lee" Well boys, it's finally made it to cyberspace and the streaming sites. Trust you'll enjoy the energy it generated. Sure was one of the best nights of my life, so many moons ago. We're waiting for distrokid to synch the lyrics on screen, but it takes a week or two. At that time I'll repost it, and if any of you indicate interest I'll post the complete session notes of the personnel. I had to use a stage name, LeRoy Rhodes, as my real name was in use on Spotify.

Lola Albright - Sorta Blue - The gal who helped make Peter Gunn become a cult show of an early TV era jazz-detective genre.
THE PLATTERS- HARBOR LIGHTS
Cool set, murray. It's pretty obvious we all have our favorite styles and artists. I usually sit at my desktop around midnight to catch up with you guys.
I've always gravitated towards music that exhibits enthusiasm and heart, whether it be rock, blues, jazz, soul, pop, country, or even classical piano or beautifully sung standards,
I think the rawness and enthusiasm of some of the early fifties and sixties music will always be found and listened to over time as there was something very genuine in the performances.
I remember sitting around a small a.m. radio with a pair of brushes playing on a pizza pie tin, to the Silhouettes - 'Get A Job' in '57.
Do You Want To Dance - Bobby Freeman 1958
HI cap, When producer Peter A. Barker agreed to mix and master my two songs that were on 24 track 2" tapes, he sent me to Dan Johnson at Audio Archiving Services, Inc in Burbank, CA.to have them digitized.
While I was there while bringing him the tapes (man they were heavy!) I saw a dolly completely full of tapes! Lowell George's wife (not sure which one) had sent them to Dan so as to have them archived for preservation.
Little Feat's keyboardist, Bill Payne has played with a very long list of notables over his career. Enjoyed his playing on Willin'.
Wikipedia excerpt:
John Bonham considered him "a god" and Buddy Rich called him "the inspiration for every big-name drummer in the business": the story of Gene Krupa, the king of swing. "In the early sixties as a young teenager I made a trip to NYC with some pals and caught Gene Krupa playing at the Metropole Cafe with his quartet. He signed a dollar bill for me, and damn, later on one of my 'pals' stole it from me when we hung out at my home in Poughkeepsie, NY. You can bet I wish I still had it." Krupa was an influence on my drumming days back then, as were Buddy Rich and John Bonham, so this story of Gene's life and career caught my eye. It includes videos of Gene's playing.

Henri's Rock n Roll Boogie Woogie - Henri Herbert shows some killer piano licks in this relatively brief boogie woogie piano exposition. He recently did a short tutorial of a Johnnie Johnson lick on YouTube, a lick that I couldn't figure out for decades it was so fast. His explanation showed it actually was a deceptively simple lick variation of one by Pine Top Perkins and Albert Ammons, with a simple change that electrified the lick as played by Johnnie on Sweet Lil Sixteen. I asked him about it in a comment on his YouTube video if this was the lick, and he answered, Yes! That's it!
And, he asked me to email him about my times with Johnnie over many decades, which I promptly did. Looking over his schedule, he's a very busy young man, so it was someone from his coterie that replied and said they'd received the comment I put on his website page, as well as the email I sent him.
Faron Young story w/Willie Nelson. Always liked the backup singers on this track, along with the country piano licks during the bridge.
murray, Always rewarding to read of human excellence as displayed in Tommy Comeaux's too brief lifetime.
Especially how it inspired so many others to also do good in a manner that continues to have positive ripple effects. RIP.
Late night stuff...Chris Whiteman guitar work on a now standard, that was a fun movie, too.
Muireann Bradley - Candyman (Jools' Annual Hootenanny) She can really sing and pick, keeping the older blues from way back in the day alive.
Gut bucket blues, Johnnie Johnson, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Chuck Leavell
Great look at Johnnie's piano playing starting :45 seconds in w/ some of his prime riffs.
It's an outtake from the Hail, Hail, Rock 'n' Roll rockumentary.
Of course Chuck Berry had to get in on it towards the end.
